Eric and Beliar boarded the carriage side by side. Inside the rattling carriage, it was terribly quiet.

‘It’s been three years since I last came to the south.’

Eric gazed at the exotic scenery, lost in memories.

Three years ago, he had visited the south with Roje—right after their wedding, as a honeymoon.

When he had come with Roje, the carriage had been bursting with noise. He suddenly remembered Roje’s excited chatter, incessant and full of anticipation.

Roje’s image flickered vividly in his mind—a stark contrast to the Beliar seated beside him now.

It had been a rather enjoyable trip. Though keeping up with Roje’s enthusiasm had been a bit tiring; she’d been so thrilled, it being her first visit to the south.

He glanced at Beliar, who sat silently staring only out the window.

Unlike Roje, Beliar was neither cheerful nor lively; she was a woman who remained aloof, indifferent whether by day or night.

‘A boring woman.’

Being with her was tedious. Eric broke the silence and spoke to Beliar.

“Have you ever been to the south before?”

“…Yes. It’s my hometown.”

“Your hometown? I thought you were born and raised in the capital.”

At Eric’s words, Beliar’s face twisted awkwardly, as if realizing her slip. She quickly offered an excuse.
