Sern brightened at the knight’s voice calling out to him and hurried over with quick little steps.
“Ha ha, now that there’s no lady left to escort… I thought I might as well come stamp my face in here.”
Sern wore an utterly innocent, clueless expression as he grinned broadly.
“Oh, right. Now that the lady’s gone, you’ve got nothing left to do, huh?”
The knights looked at Sern with pitying eyes. To them, Sern was someone who couldn’t do anything properly.
He had plenty of willingness to try, but his execution was far too clumsy.
“Go ahead and pay your respects since he’s inside. Just don’t say anything foolish.”
The knight spoke with an air of magnanimity.
“Oh, really? Thank you!”
Overcome with gratitude for the knight’s kindness, Sern bowed deeply at a perfect ninety-degree angle.
“If you’re grateful, buy me a drink later.”
Sern faltered slightly at the knight’s words.
