“I’m pregnant.”

“Pregnant?”

Byeol Ha’s eyes widened like a rabbit’s as she clinked her teacup. So startled by her friend’s unexpected words, she nearly dropped the cup.

Perhaps due to her sudden flinch, the hot tea sloshed over, wetting the back of Byeol Ha’s hand.

“Ah, it’s hot!”

The tea, still scalding hot, burned her skin. Byeol Ha quickly set the cup down and wiped her hand. Her fair skin had already turned reddish from the heat.

Gyeo Ru quietly watched Byeol Ha’s flustered state for a moment before finally speaking—without even asking if she was okay, just blurting out her own words.

“He said he’ll marry me.”

Byeol Ha, who had been blowing gently on her hand to cool it, turned her head to look at Gyeo Ru.

“That’s great. Congratulations on your wedding. Have you set the date? You’d better hurry if you want the ceremony before your belly gets too big.”

Since Gyeo Ru always boasted about her boyfriend and how much he adored and cherished her, Byeol Ha genuinely offered her congratulations.

“We’ve already finished the meeting between families and booked the venue.”

Gyeo Ru gave a faint smile, as if telling Byeol Ha not to worry, then began rummaging through her expensive designer bag.

“I called you today to give you the wedding invitation.”

Gyeo Ru thumped the invitation down onto the table with a sharp sound, then slowly slid it toward Byeol Ha.

“You’ve already printed the invitations?”

It looked quite luxurious, shimmering faintly with pearlescent ink. Byeol Ha picked up the invitation from the table and opened the envelope.

November 28th. 1:00 PM. S Hotel Banquet Hall

The front was simple—only the date, time, venue, and the names of the bride and groom were written. As Byeol Ha checked the groom’s name, her eyes widened in shock.

“Oh my, the groom’s name is ‘Lee Do Hyun’? That’s the same as my husband’s name.”

How ironic! Was the name Do Hyun really this common?

Unable to hide her astonishment, Byeol Ha excitedly expressed her amazement. Sitting across from her, Gyeo Ru began pressing her lips together.

Then, as if struggling to suppress laughter, she kept her eyes fixed intently on Byeol Ha.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say her entire attention was focused on Byeol Ha.

“That’s weird. Then again, compared to you and me, ‘Lee Do Hyun’ is a pretty common name.”

“Pfft.”

Gyeo Ru, who had been trying hard not to laugh, finally burst out at Byeol Ha’s next words. A soft giggle escaped her lips—but only for a moment. Soon after, a strangely sharp, cackling laugh filled the entire café.

“Ah… Just a sec. Hehehe…”

Her laughter instantly drew everyone’s attention. Gyeo Ru, oblivious to the stares directed at her, clutched her stomach.

“You’re way too funny. Seriously.”

She was so amused that tears welled up in her eyes. Wiping them away with her fingers, she nodded toward the invitation.

“Open it.”

“Huh? Okay.”

‘Why is she suddenly laughing like that?’

For some reason, Byeol Ha felt unsettled. Gyeo Ru’s gaze seemed to mock her. Keeping her eyes locked on Gyeo Ru, Byeol Ha slowly opened the invitation.

Inside the invitation, alongside a brief message about living happily together, was a printed wedding photo of the bride and groom.

Gyeo Ru, dressed in a gown that accentuated her slender figure, stood beside her groom, who was smiling happily.

“…?”

The moment she saw the photo, Byeol Ha’s mind went completely blank. The man beside Gyeo Ru was someone she knew all too well.

“Why is my husband…?”

Could it just be someone who looked like him? Was she seeing things because her husband shared the same name?

Byeol Ha stared again and again at the invitation in her hand. No matter how many times she looked, the man in the photo was unmistakably her husband, Lee Do Hyun.

“What the… Seriously? Cut it out. Don’t joke around.”

Byeol Ha bit her lower lip and looked at Gyeo Ru. Her pupils lost focus and trembled pitifully. Gyeo Ru casually swept her long straight hair behind her shoulders and watched Byeol Ha, who was visibly shaking.

Seeing Byeol Ha gaze at her desperately, as if grasping at straws, made Gyeo Ru’s laughter keep bubbling up uncontrollably.

‘How foolish. No wonder your man was stolen.’

She’d even shown the invitation, yet Byeol Ha remained so clueless. Gyeo Ru decided she’d have to spell everything out herself and slowly began to speak.

“I’m pregnant with your husband’s child.”

“…!”

Thud.

‘My husband’s child… She’s pregnant?’

Her heart plummeted. Overwhelmed by the sensation of falling endlessly, Byeol Ha involuntarily gasped for air. Her mind grew hazy, and she felt terribly dizzy—so dizzy that her vision spun, and her stomach churned.

‘This can’t be. Why… why with my husband…!’

Byeol Ha, her hands trembling like an aspen leaf, covered her mouth. Gyeo Ru’s words felt utterly unreal. She desperately wished her husband, Lee Do Hyun, would suddenly appear from behind and tell her it was all just a joke.

But that was only Byeol Ha’s futile hope.

Lee Do Hyun didn’t appear. Instead, Gyeo Ru stroked her still-flat stomach and stared at Byeol Ha, her eyes gleaming with triumph as she leisurely curved her lips into a smirk.

‘There must be some misunderstanding. My husband would never do this to me.’

Her husband had always been so devoted to her that others envied them. Despite having already seen the invitation, Byeol Ha couldn’t accept the current situation—no, she didn’t want to accept it.

“Do you even know what November 28th is? That’s the exact day of our sixth anniversary with Do Hyun. So please don’t say useless things like it’s just my imagination.”

Gyeo Ru spoke as if she knew exactly what Byeol Ha was thinking. Hearing that they’d been together for six years, Byeol Ha froze in place.

It hadn’t just been a few months of attraction—it had been six whole years.

A wave of despair crashed over her like a storm. The pain of her heart being torn to shreds, the agony so intense it made breathing feel like a burden—

All of it consumed Byeol Ha’s body.

“Did he visit you secretly while I was studying abroad in the U.S.? Do Hyun really is such a caring type—especially in bed.”

Gyeo Ru provocatively brushed her lower lip and let slip a meaningful smile. It seemed ridiculous to her that Byeol Ha had been happily married all this time without knowing anything. She’d wanted to say this for so long.

That your husband loves me.

Gyeo Ru looked at Byeol Ha, now utterly shattered, with eyes filled with ecstasy. Then she cruelly carved into Byeol Ha’s heart.

“Do Hyun and I were together even the day before your wedding. He spent the night with me at a hotel that day and went straight to your ceremony afterward.”

Tears had already filled Byeol Ha’s eyes. She couldn’t utter a single word—only shed pitiful tears silently.

“Your husband never loved you from the start. He always said he loved me, not you. So don’t be too sad. There must be someone else out there who’ll love you.”

Byeol Ha finally lowered her head. She couldn’t bear to hear another word from Gyeo Ru.

Her shoulders shook as tears soaked through her knees.

“You’ll congratulate me on my wedding, right?”

Gyeo Ru’s voice, as if from a demon, pierced into Byeol Ha’s ears. It echoed relentlessly, whispering and persistently attacking until Byeol Ha’s mental defenses crumbled.

To ask for congratulations on marrying my husband?

It was beyond absurd—it was utterly unjust.

She wanted to grab Gyeo Ru by the hair and demand what she’d done, but strangely, her body wouldn’t move.

The shock was so immense that she had no strength left in her limbs.

“Do you really think… I’d give you a divorce?”

Byeol Ha, unable to even look at Gyeo Ru, asked in a trembling voice. It was her last desperate resistance.

Seeing Byeol Ha shiver yet refuse to back down, Gyeo Ru smirked and let out a mocking giggle.

“Hey, are you threatening me now?”

Gyeo Ru burst into loud laughter, completely unmoved by Byeol Ha’s words. Instead, she sneered at the mention of divorce.

“You haven’t even registered your marriage with Do Hyun, have you?”

“…!”

“How can you talk about divorce in that case?”

Byeol Ha flinched. Gyeo Ru had struck right at the core.

She hadn’t registered her marriage with Lee Do Hyun, having respected his wish to do so only after having a child.

Gyeo Ru rummaged through her bag once more and dramatically tossed a sheet of paper onto the table.

“Do Hyun and I are already legally married.”

Byeol Ha, who had kept her head lowered the whole time, barely managed to lift it at Gyeo Ru’s words. Through her blurred vision, she saw a folded piece of paper.

Bang!

“…You’re lying!”

Byeol Ha slammed both hands on the table and shouted. Then, with unfocused eyes, she stared at the paper on the table.

“You’ll know whether it’s a lie or not when you see it with your own eyes.”

Gyeo Ru forced the paper into Byeol Ha’s hand and gave a cold, sly smile. Looking at what she held, Byeol Ha couldn’t say a word.

Because everything Gyeo Ru had said was true…

Her family registry listed Lee Do Hyun as her spouse.

“…Ha.”

“So please stop calling Do Hyun your husband. He’s not your husband—he’s mine.”

Arms crossed, Gyeo Ru looked down haughtily at Byeol Ha, her face flushed with the intoxication of victory.

Byeol Ha had no choice but to let go of the last thread of hope she’d been clinging to. In that moment, six years of dating and marriage were completely denied.

The cruel reality tightened its grip around her entire body. Without even grabbing her bag, Byeol Ha staggered out of the café.

Once outside, she collapsed onto the pavement after only a few steps. Amidst the cheerful chatter of people basking in the crisp autumn sun, she silently shook her shoulders in utter despair.

At twenty-six, that autumn was unbearably cruel. Like fallen leaves crushed beneath her knees, Byeol Ha’s heart shattered into countless pieces.

***

“I’m hungry…”

In a tiny studio apartment of about five pyeong, she lay sprawled in the middle of the room—no bed in sight—and opened her eyes, roused by hunger.

As soon as she got up, she fumbled on the floor, picked up her smartphone, and, out of habit, logged into Byeolgram.

Followers: 0. Following: 0.

That was her account. She skillfully searched for usernames and spied on the daily lives of her friends and family.

With a bittersweet, regretful look in her eyes, she stared at her phone for a long while.

After her divorce, Byeol Ha had lived in seclusion for over three years. She could have leaned on her friends and family, but being with them always brought Lee Do Hyun to mind.

So she ran away—to a place with no one she knew, somewhere free of memories of him. She quit her job too; she couldn’t stay at the same workplace as Lee Do Hyun.

Byeol Ha changed her phone number and even her name, trying her best to forget both Lee Do Hyun and Gyeo Ru.

Whoever claimed humans are creatures of forgetfulness was wrong. Just as she’d begin to forget, those nightmarish memories would resurface, making her life utterly miserable.

Byeol Ha put down her phone and slowly got up. Shuffling over to the stove, she boiled water to make a meal.

Because her apartment hadn’t sold, delaying the division of assets, she’d already lived in this studio for nearly three years.

She pulled out one of the books left behind by the previous tenant, laid it on the floor, and placed her pot on top of it.

As she ate her ramen, the book’s title caught her eye.

The Trapped Countess

It was a novel she’d happened to read after moving in here. Out of curiosity, she’d flipped through the pages but never finished it.

This novel told the story of a count who constantly caused scandals with women and his suffering countess—a relentlessly grim tale.

Byeol Ha had empathized so deeply with the female lead that she ultimately couldn’t finish it and dropped the story midway.

“I should throw it away.”

Just seeing the title made her feel so bad. Staring blankly at the novel, Byeol Ha muttered to herself.

She picked up the book with her index finger and tossed it into the trash bin.

Thud!

But it wasn’t just the ordinary sound of discarding a book. Frowning at the strange noise, Byeol Ha furrowed her brows and listened closely.

Kraaang!

At that moment, the ground began shaking violently with an enormous roar.

“Aaahh!”

As if struck by an earthquake, the earth started collapsing beneath her. Byeol Ha had no time to escape before the building crumbled on top of her.

Alone in a place with no connections, Byeol Ha met her end. Her first life ended in utter misery.

Perhaps she never knew that a dazzling second life awaited her within the very book she’d just thrown away.

As Byeol Ha lost consciousness, she felt someone desperately calling out to her.

“…Are you all right?!”

Guided by the faint voice, she struggled to lift her heavy eyelids. The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was an extravagantly ornate chandelier.

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

27/12/2025
Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
