Doana was waiting in the waiting room, oblivious.
Dreaming of an impossible, glamorous wedding with Eric.
“My skills are poor.”
She looked at her reflection in the mirror and made a dissatisfied face.
Surely, she asked for it to be glamorous…!
“Ha, they’ve turned the dress into a clown’s costume.”
Far from being glamorous, it was a complete mess.
Cheap, shoddy fabric and dirty finishing. Moreover, the jewels on the dress also looked incredibly cheap.
Doana regretted entrusting everything to Tersia. Even if she was kind, she was still her ‘motherinlaw’. Foolishly believing everything.
It was already too late to notice that Tersia wouldn’t sincerely take care of her.
‘Ha, just like an old fox!’
The kindness she showed her was just a means to stab her in the back.
She was tricked once, but she won’t be tricked a second time.
Thinking so, Doana gnawed on her lower lip.
‘But…… thanks to her, I’m able to have the wedding so quickly, right?’
The silver lining in the misfortune was that she could become a countess without any trouble, thanks to Tersia.
Doana recalled the conversation with Tersia who had come to the waiting room. She had sat down with a plump expression, gently embraced the seated Doana, and said this.
“Oh, my dear. You look so pretty.”
“Really?”
“I’m really looking forward to today’s wedding. Everyone is all praises since the bride is so beautiful.”
“You’re too kind, mother. Nobody has seen me yet and your praises are too much.”
The maids chuckled at Doana, who still thought of herself as the bride, but she knew nothing.
She was just shrugging her shoulders at Tersia’s glib words praising her.
Besides, she didn’t want to put white gauze on her face today.
Doana’s face was heavily covered in makeup to hide the blemishes, so it was thickly painted and looked older than usual.
“But, why aren’t the guests coming to the waiting room to see the bride’s face?”
She arrived at dawn and had been in the waiting room for over 5 hours. She was so bored she could fall asleep.
Probably because she couldn’t sleep due to her fluttering heart.
“I wonder. The bride’s face must have been seen by everyone already.”
The maid replied, desperately holding back a protruding laugh.
The maids, who had been in disbelief that Doana was becoming a countess, only discovered the true identity of the bride today.
The fact that Doana wasn’t the one marrying Eric made them all smile.
They didn’t tell Doana the truth, they just let her misunderstand.
There was no need for them to clarify the misunderstanding that Tersia intentionally created.
“What are you talking about? I haven’t even seen the groom’s nose, let alone the guests!”
The only person who had come and gone here was Tersia.
Even Eric didn’t come to see Doana. She felt like she had become useless baggage rather than the protagonist of the wedding.
“So annoying, I can’t even go out!”
As Doana angrily vented her frustration, the maid quietly spoke.
“Relax your face. Your makeup will get stuck in the wrinkles.”
The maid’s words were annoying, but Doana shut her mouth quietly.
Because she had to be flawlessly beautiful today.
The maids standing behind Doana whispered to each other.
“Do you think she really doesn’t know?”
“If she knew, she wouldn’t react like this.”
“Right. Even when she was talking to the future countess earlier, she referred to herself as the ‘bride’.”
“Pfft, yeah. I was so amused then that I almost burst out laughing.”
“Me too.”
They found the current situation utterly hilarious.
She rode on Eric’s back and treated them rudely, and now she’s being mocked instead of getting married.
“I want to see the ceremony soon.”
“That’s true. By the way, have you seen his lordship, the future count?”
“Yeah. I saw him passing by and he looked as cold as the rumors said. He seems to have a strong personality……”
“Ha.”
They sighed at the same time. They missed Rosé, who had left the mansion.
“There really was no one like our lady.”
“That’s what I’m saying.”
“I wish she would come back……”
As soon as the maids finished speaking, someone knocked on the waiting room door.
Knock knock.
At the sound, the maid frowned. There shouldn’t be anyone to come……
She stuck her head out the door to check the situation.
“……! La, lady?”
At the unexpected appearance of Rosé, she was frozen on the spot.
She never dreamed that Rosé would come. And especially not in such a beautiful form.
“What…… how did you.”
Could this be a man claiming to be my husband?
“I brought him.”
With a bright face, Jane looked at the maid. Rosé spoke softly to the maid.
“She’s looking for Doana. Is she here?”
“Yes.”
“Then I’ll come in for a moment.”
The maid, startled, nodded and opened the door to the waiting room. Rosé elegantly entered, escorted by the Grand Duke.
At the sound of the commotion, Doana turned around.
“Who’s here?”
The visit was quite welcome in the midst of the boredom. But Doana’s face hardened rapidly when she confirmed that the person was Rosé.
“…Rosé?”
“Hello, Doana.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
