The Heiress in Blue (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
“What on earth are you doing!”
Team Leader Pyo, having barely regained her composure, strode toward Yeoreum.
Yeoreum, still seemingly lost in the music and dancing, merely shrugged her shoulders.
Her reaction was as if to ask, “What’s the problem?”
“Turn that music off right now!”
Team Leader Pyo jabbed her finger furiously, but Yeoreum ignored her completely and slammed a plate onto the floor.
It was just like tossing a water balloon at an amusement park.
The staff stood bewildered by the spectacle unfolding before their eyes.
Team Leader Pyo reached out, but Yeoreum stepped backward to keep her bowl from being snatched away.
“You really—!”
Finally, seething with rage, Team Leader Pyo raised her right hand.
She clearly intended to slap Yeoreum across the cheek.
Everyone watching instinctively opened their mouths in anticipation of what would happen next.
“…Ah.”
The staff, who had been holding their breath during the tense standoff, finally exhaled in relief.
The butler had grabbed Team Leader Pyo’s wrist just before it reached Yeoreum’s cheek.
She shook free and stood directly in front of Team Leader Pyo.
“Team Leader Pyo, what exactly do you think you’re doing?”
“Please don’t interfere, Butler!”
Her eyes glared at Yeoreum with murderous intent.
“Don’t interfere? You’re cornering someone and resorting to violence!”
“Didn’t you hear what Madam Song said yesterday? She clearly delegated all matters concerning Jeong Yeoreum to me. I’m simply carrying out those instructions! So, please step aside, Butler!”
The butler’s brow furrowed slightly, but Team Leader Pyo shouted without a care.
“She’s a terribly ill-mannered child. I’ll teach her proper behavior from now on!”
Watching her lose control, the butler spoke calmly.
“From where I stand, it’s you, Team Leader Pyo, who needs to relearn manners—and perhaps even take some lessons yourself.”
“What did you say?”
“Manage your own emotions. No one here deserves to be subjected to your outbursts.”
“I clearly told you—this is Madam Song’s order!”
“Yes, you did. But I take my orders directly from Chairwoman Kang Ju Hwa.”
Her tone was quiet yet firm.
And the mere mention of “Kang Ju Hwa” instantly overwhelmed Song Jeong Mi.
“The chairwoman has entrusted me with full authority and responsibility over this household. It’s my duty to put things back in order when this family descends into chaos—and, of course, I have every right to calm disturbances. Don’t you agree?”
Though furious, Team Leader Pyo couldn’t retort.
The butler spoke the truth—and she was Chairwoman Kang’s most trusted aide.
“As the butler of this house, I absolutely will not tolerate rudeness or violence from Blue House staff.”
Team Leader Pyo let out a rough breath and turned to Butler Park.
“So you’re just going to let Jeong Yeoreism smash all those dishes like that?”
The butler replied,
“It’s her first time—she might have made a mistake.”
“A mistake? She deliberately threw the dishes onto the floor—how is that a mistake?”
At Team Leader Pyo’s rising voice, Butler Park turned and asked Yeoreum,
“Was it a mistake?”
Yeoreum answered,
“Of course! Obviously, it was a mistake.”
She quickly placed the bowl she’d been holding onto the sink and gave a bright smile.
The butler added,
“I understand. Our kitchen detergent is incredibly slippery.”
“Exactly! It’s so slippery—it felt just like handling an eel.”
“That’s a perfect description. Kitchen detergent really is like an eel.”

Team Leader Pyo was speechless.
It felt as though the two were colluding to mock her.
Just then, Butler Park noticed the rubber gloves on Yeoreum’s hands and said,
“Take those off. It seems this task isn’t suited for you, Miss Yeoreum.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Not at all. Absolutely not.”
She replied firmly.
Yeoreum gave a small laugh and began peeling off the gloves to place them in the sink.
“Hand me those gloves.”
Though momentarily confused, Yeoreum passed the gloves to the butler as requested.
The butler then approached Team Leader Pyo and pressed the gloves into her hand.
Everyone was even more stunned.
Team Leader Pyo was just as baffled.
“What are you doing now?”
She tried to drop the gloves, but the butler held her hand firmly so she couldn’t let go.
“…Butler!”
“Seeing these rubber gloves brought back memories. When you first came to this house, you were terrible at washing dishes—you kept chipping and breaking them, and the former chief cook scolded you endlessly for it. That’s why I eventually moved you to the cleaning department, your current role. Don’t you remember?”
The younger staff members gasped in unison and stared at Team Leader Pyo.
It was unimaginable that the woman who always stood at the top, lecturing others with such authority, had once been so incompetent at dishwashing that she’d been reassigned to cleaning.
Seeing her flushed face, it was clear the story was true.
The butler tightened her grip on Team Leader Pyo’s struggling hand and said,
“People grow through learning, Team Leader Pyo—for better or worse. I’ll give Miss Yeoreum a warning about today’s incident, so let’s leave it at that. And Miss Yeoreum—please come with me.”
She patted Yeoreum’s hand firmly and left the kitchen.
Yeoreum glanced back at Team Leader Pyo, who was trembling with anger, but quickly followed the butler out.
*
“Here you go.”
The butler handed her a cup of beautifully amber-hued black tea.
They were in the garden of the terrace overlooking the estate.
Outside, it was still cold and desolate, yet this green-filled space warmed the heart.
“Thank you.”
She took a sip of the warm tea, and her mood instantly lifted.
Butler Park, seated on the opposite sofa, spoke,
“I know it’s presumptuous, but I called you here because I have something to say to you.”
“Go ahead.”
The butler took a short breath and continued,
“Team Leader Pyo is Madam Song Jeong Mi’s right hand. Directly confronting her won’t lead to anything good.”
“Is that so?”
“If Madam Song herself gets involved, things will become even harder for you—and there’ll be nothing I can do at that point.”
“Just for today’s help, I’m already more than grateful to you, Butler.”
“That’s not why I’m telling you this. Why not give yourself a little more time and proceed carefully? A head-on clash will be difficult. You’re alone, and they’re the majority—plus, they have far more advantages over you in every way.”
Yeoreum lifted her teacup and took another sip.
It was Darjeeling—the same tea her mother loved.
And one she herself also loved.
“Butler—if you leave a wound unattended, it doesn’t just heal into healthy flesh, does it?”
“Hmm?”
“Kim Se Jin endured six years in this house. Did anything ever change?”
After a moment’s silence, the butler replied,
“No.”
“Exactly. Nothing changed. In fact, the more I bow my head, the more they’ll stomp on me—because both Kim Se Jin and I are invaders trying to take away what they’ve long enjoyed.”
“But the chairwoman’s stance is unwavering. She absolutely won’t take your side.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’m just living Jeong Yeoreum’s life.”
Looking at the butler’s troubled, weathered expression, Yeoreum added,
“No matter where I am, I’m still Jeong Yeoreum. And my life will always be mine—not Chairwoman Kang Ju Hwa’s.”
The butler responded,
“I see.”
“Anyway, thank you for today. And the tea was wonderful.”
Yeoreum stood up, bowed respectfully to the butler, and left.
The butler gazed out toward the garden, its leaves already tinged brown.
A soft chuckle escaped her lips.
“Now, the true master of Blue House has finally returned.”
*
Team Leader Yang and Attorney Jo stood before the gate of Jeong Yeoreum’s house in Busan, letting out deep sighs.
For some reason, Jeong Yeoreum’s phone number had already been disconnected, and the gate was firmly locked.
After finally tracking down her school, they learned she’d submitted her resignation just one day after being appointed.
Now, where could they possibly find Jeong Yeoreum?
After two fruitless days, the two lawyers finally turned to leave from the gate.
Just thinking about Ha Eun’s scolding already exhausted them.
Just then, Attorney Jo’s phone rang.
“Now this is unexpected.”
He started texting with a fellow member of the Legal Team.
Team Leader Yang waited silently.
“Team Leader, I just heard the chairwoman’s son was in a serious car accident over the weekend. The entire Legal Team’s in chaos because of it.”
“Oh?”
Staring straight ahead, Team Leader Yang replied indifferently.
“His condition’s critical—they rushed him to a hospital in the U.S., and his life’s in danger. Because of that, the chairwoman’s pressuring her daughter-in-law and even forcing her granddaughter to sign some strange contract.”
“A strange contract?”
“Apparently, it forbids the granddaughter from seeing her parents for twenty years and requires her to stay by the chairwoman’s side, doing everything she’s told.”
“What?”
“After hating her daughter-in-law so much, she’s now taking revenge on her granddaughter by essentially turning her into a slave. Honestly, where else would you find our chairwoman’s twisted personality?”
Attorney Jo shook his head.
But suddenly, his rapidly typing fingers froze.
His eyes were glued to the phone screen.
“What is it?”
“The granddaughter is twenty-five, from Busan—and her name is Jeong Yeoreum…”
Team Leader Yang turned to look at Attorney Jo.
“It really is Jeong Yeoreum.”
As if on cue, both lawyers turned to examine the nameplate on the house gate.
Neatly carved into the wood was the name “Jeong Jung Hyeon.”
Their faces filled with disbelief.
*
“Since you clearly lack talent for dishwashing, you’ll clean instead. And because your hands, Miss Jeong Yeoreum, are apparently so slippery, you’re not to touch anything else—just use this rag to wipe the floor.”
Team Leader Pyo thrust a rag toward Yeoreum.
Four cleaning staff stood nearby, glancing nervously.
They had a high-powered steam mop available, yet insisting she squat and scrub by hand was clearly meant to torment Yeoreum.
But not one of them dared speak up.
“Well, fine.”
Surprisingly, Yeoreum agreed immediately.
The cleaning team headed up to the second floor.
From the rooms used by Gi Taek’s family to the study and private theater—there was no shortage of spaces to clean.
Team Leader Pyo followed behind, clearly there to keep an eye on Yeoreum.

Yeoreum approached a staff member preparing to clean the study and asked softly,
“I haven’t seen Kang Ha Eun around?”
“The young miss is getting a massage. She said she’d come in late today.”
“How long does that usually take?”
“About an hour. She’s been in for a while, so she should be finishing up soon.”
“I see.”
Just then, Team Leader Pyo spoke from behind,
“Stop chattering and clean properly.”
“Yes!”
The staff hurriedly began opening windows.
“What is it?”
Team Leader Pyo shot Yeoreum a sharp look as she approached.
“I really need to use the restroom—can I go quickly?”
Still displeased but resigned, Team Leader Pyo replied,
“Be quick about it.”
“Okay.”
Yeoreum stepped into the hallway.
She pulled out her phone and quickly typed a message.
When she returned to the study, Team Leader Pyo stood with arms crossed, scolding her.
“Why were you so late? Get back to work immediately.”
“No matter how I think about it, this job really isn’t for me.”
The nearby staff instantly perked up their ears at Yeoreum’s words.
Team Leader Pyo sneered,
“Miss Jeong Yeoreum, you really never understand your place.”
“Is that so?”
“If you want to live comfortably in this house, you’d better listen to me. Now pick up that rag and start scrubbing the floor. You’re not leaving until every inch is clean.”
“But I don’t want to.”
“What did you—!”
Just as Team Leader Pyo began to protest, the study door swung open.
“Hey!”
Ha Eun stormed in.
She must have run over straight from her massage—her hair was still wrapped in a towel.
“You, talk to me for a minute!”
“Sorry, I can’t right now.”
“What?”
“I have to clean this floor, so I don’t have time to talk to you.”
“Is this stupid chore seriously more important?”
“Team Leader Pyo said I can’t leave until the floor’s completely cleaned. So unless someone else takes this rag and finishes it for me…”
Ha Eun didn’t even need to think before replying,
“Team Leader Pyo will do it.”
“…Young miss!”
Team Leader Pyo stammered in disbelief,
“That’s Miss Jeong Yeoreum’s job!”
“Are you seriously arguing with me right now?”
“It’s not like that—”
“You trying to piss me off? Who do you think you are to talk back like that?”
“Young miss, that’s not—”
“I mean it! From now on, you handle all this cleaning. Got it?”
“Me?”
“Yes, you! And Jeong Yeoreum—you come with me. To my room!”

Ha Eun stormed out, clearly annoyed.
Yeoreum turned to the stunned Team Leader Pyo and said,
“You heard the young miss clearly, didn’t you? From now on, scrubbing the floor with a wet rag is your job, Pyo Jeong Ran. Well then—good luck.”
With a cheerful smile, Yeoreum left the study.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
