Yeoreum answered Mira—who was speaking fast from excitement—slowly and calmly.
“My school is Gamsan High School. I start next Monday.”
“Right away?”

The majestic Uarium Resort stood proudly overlooking the night sea of Haeundae.
Yeoreum walked toward the resort, continuing her call with her friend Mira.
Despite the late hour—past 9 p.m.—and the February chill still lingering in the sea breeze, crowds of people filled the area, probably because it was Saturday.
“Your parents must be happy, right?”
“They are.”
“Then why do you sound so lukewarm? Your daughter just became a teacher—the ultimate daughter-in-law material—instead of doing every odd job under the sun.”
“You know our parents. They’re far more interested in each other than in me.”
“That’s true. Their parenting style really is unusual. They always told you to handle your own life, and even stopped giving you allowance after elementary school, forcing you to support yourself. And now they happily take exactly one million won every month from their unemployed only child. That’s not easy for most parents to do.”
“Today they went on a trip together again. They used to always drag me along before.”
“Well, they clearly have a strong bond. And they’re both total lookers, too. Ugh, I want a marriage like that someday.”
“That part’s true, but honestly, seeing them together every day makes me cringe. It’s so cheesy I get goosebumps.”

She scrubbed the drained floor vigorously with the brush.
“I’m gonna miss her—Yeoreum was our endorphin boost.”
“Stop making people feel bad—it’s a great opportunity for her.”
The team leader immediately scolded them.
“It really is a shame. Yeoreum’s so kind and thorough—she does everything so well.”
“A teacher shouldn’t be doing this kind of work in the first place. Quit complaining and just scrub the floor harder.”
Motivated by his remark, everyone worked even faster.
They scrubbed the pool floor and walls thoroughly with brushes, disinfected everything, rinsed it all with clean water, and finally filled the pool with pleasantly warm water.
Of course, they also meticulously dried every surrounding surface with dry towels while the pool filled—just as they’d always done.
Having efficiently finished cleaning the second pool, Yeoreum stood up when the team leader’s phone rang.
He spoke seriously, apparently with the front desk.
“We need to clean Baekgwan right away—they just got a last-minute reservation.”
He lowered his phone and explained.
Baekgwan was the largest and most expensive villa on the property, featuring a sizable private pool out front.
“The guests arrive at 11, so let’s work as fast and efficiently as possible.”
Everyone hurriedly gathered their cleaning supplies and rushed to Baekgwan.
They began cleaning just as skillfully as before.
Just then, a woman who looked to be in her mid-twenties entered the pool area.
Despite the chilly weather, she wore a short-sleeved top and a skirt, suggesting she was a guest staying in one of the nearby villas.
The team leader, who’d been wiping the floor tiles with a dry towel, stepped in front of her.
“Oh dear, ma’am—you seem to have taken a wrong turn.”
“What?”
“I think you’ve entered the wrong house.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Her sudden burst of profanity made everyone glance in her direction.
She had long, wavy brown hair, oversized hoop earrings studded with cubic zirconia, and flashy manicured nails—overall, quite flamboyant.
“Forget it. Get out of my way.”
Her slurred speech hinted she was drunk.
“Excuse me, ma’am, but this villa’s been reserved by someone else. I think you’ve mistaken it for yours.”

She kicked off her high heels haphazardly and threw them aside.

The team leader apologized while holding out the heels a staff member had retrieved.

Since incidents like this occasionally happened during late-night shifts, they quickly refocused on their work.
Moments later, the pool was filled with clean water.
A quick check with a thermometer confirmed the temperature was just right.
Satisfied, the staff gathered their cleaning tools.
“Where to next?”
Yeoreum asked.
“You’re done.”
“What?”
“Teacher Jeong Yeoreum, you stop here. We’ll finish the rest in no time.”
“No, I should come with you.”
When Yeoreum tried to follow, the team leader stopped her.
“You’re not supposed to do this kind of work anymore. It’s just a small job—we’ll wrap it up ourselves in a flash.”
“Exactly. Teacher, you just wait here nicely, and we’ll call you when we’re done. Let’s have a meat party tonight!”
“Yeah, you stay right here.”
They insisted she remain and left without her.
It was their way of showing kindness, so Yeoreum decided to wait graciously and appreciatively.
She sat on a nearby lounge chair, gazing at the freshly filled pool, when she heard approaching footsteps.
“Huh?”
It was the same woman from earlier.
But this time, she wasn’t alone—she’d brought two women and two men who appeared to be around her age.
“Where did everyone go? Why are you here by yourself?”
“What’s going on?”
Yeoreum stood up and asked.
“What’s going on?”
The woman smirked sharply and extended her hand sideways.
One of her companions handed her a bottle of red wine.
She turned the bottle upside down immediately.
“What are you doing!”
The red liquid spilled onto the floor, and she went further—flinging wine in all directions.
The spotless white tiles, freshly cleaned and dried, were instantly stained crimson.
Yeoreum stepped forward and shouted at the woman.
“What kind of nonsense is this!”
“Don’t you get it? I’m disinfecting. It’s too filthy.”
She tried to splash wine on Yeoreum too, but Yeoreum dodged swiftly.
Since the bottle was now empty, the woman hurled it aside.
It whizzed past Yeoreum and landed in the pool.
“What you’re doing is a crime! Do you even realize that!”
“Crime? You fat-ass bitch.”
“Fat-ass?”
“How do you live with a body like that? You’ve got no money, yet you keep stuffing yourself until you’re bloated. Seriously, people like you just shouldn’t exist—you can’t even manage yourself.”
Her group burst into mocking laughter.
“Do you even know what you’re saying?”
“No, I’m not done yet, you fat cow. Do you even know who I am? I’m from a family so prestigious, you’d faint on the spot if you heard the name.”
Looking at the woman’s utterly arrogant expression, Yeoreum retorted,
“You’re seriously clueless—a shriveled, dried anchovy head.”
“What did you just say?”
“Are you hard of hearing too? I said you’ve got the brain of a shriveled anchovy. And ‘fat’? Excuse me, but am I fat at 165 cm and 63 kg?”
“Any woman whose weight starts with a six is fat, you pig.”

Yeoreum swiftly twisted her body and struck the woman’s back hard with her elbow.
While the woman staggered in pain, Yeoreum seized her hair with one hand.
“…Hey, you actually dared to grab my hair? Do you even know who I really am!”
“When you pluck the head off a dried anchovy, shit always sticks to it. I just wanted to check if you’re the same.”
“You little—how dare you!”
“Did you stuff a rag in your mouth? Everything you say is trash.”
Yeoreum kicked the back of the woman’s knee, forcing her to drop to the ground.
She then pressed down hard on the back of her head, making her cheek land directly in the puddle of wine that now resembled blood.
“Hey!”
The woman screamed in outrage, but Yeoreum simply sat down firmly on her back.
A choking sound came from beneath her.
The two women, who’d been frozen in shock, finally approached and reached for Yeoreum.
She dodged and delivered sharp blows to their torsos.
As they stumbled off balance, she grabbed their arms one by one and flipped them over.
Both women collapsed onto the floor, too stunned to even cry out.
“…What are you just standing there for! Beat that bitch up! Now!”
The woman, who’d finally caught her breath, screamed and wildly gestured toward Yeoreum.
“Has she lost all sense of fear!”
The two men instantly rushed over and each grabbed one of Yeoreum’s shoulders.
Overpowered by their strength, she couldn’t move for a moment.
Suddenly, a large hand shot in and seized both men’s hair at once.
Startled, Yeoreum looked up.
The man wore a black beach poncho pulled low over his head; his height alone suggested he was nearly 190 cm tall.
“Ow! That hurts!”
The men shrieked in pain.
Though his face was obscured by the loose hood, his feet were clearly visible—clad only in flip-flops with open toes.
Like a fisherman hauling up a net, he yanked the men’s hair with immense force.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
