In a room luxuriously furnished with a large bed and a plush sofa, Director Pyo was in her own space, different from the dormitory used by the collective staff. She was furiously stomping on the floor, beside herself with anger. Hyesook, her confidante, stood by, unsure of what to do.
“That young X! That little X who can’t even get treated as a granddaughter by the chairman, dares to play with me!”
“Calm down, Director.”
“How can I calm down? That kid is making a fool of me!”
As Director Pyo erupted in anger, Hyesook clamped her mouth shut.
Jeongyeoreum, the daughter of Kim Sejin, the chairman’s enemy, and now bound by a contract to become a slave in this household for 20 years. Hyesook thought she would be crying and withering under Director Pyo’s torment.
But the opposite happened. Jeongyeoreum, with her plump face, was always smiling, completely turning the tables on Director Pyo.
Hyesook just quietly observed the director’s meltdown.
After some time, Director Pyo muttered, “How can I tear apart that X so that I feel utterly satisfied?”
Hyesook felt a chill down her spine hearing her words.

At that moment, she noticed one side of the director’s lips curving up sinisterly.
‘Another one is going to die,’ Hyesook thought to herself.
“So this house is called the Blue House?”
“Yes.”
As Yeoreum wandered around the house, she entered an annex situated by the garden, which was a dormitory for employees handling external affairs.
“The PR Group was formerly known as the Blue Group. That’s why people call it that.”
Around Yeoreum were four middle-aged men; one was dressed in a neat suit, while the other three were in work clothes.
As she sipped the warm yuja tea they offered, Yeoreum said, “And you, sir, are from the driving team, and the others are from the facility management team, right?”
“Yes, Miss,” they answered respectfully.
“There are a lot of employees here?”

“Right. There’s the head housekeeper who manages everything in the house, followed by the cooking team, cleaning team, clothing team, driving team, and our facility management team like us. There are twenty-one employees in total, each team having a team leader.”
“Are the team leaders on the same level?”
They responded with awkward smiles, “Well, that’s how it is, but…”
“The real power is with Director Pyo, right? That’s why she’s the director?”
They just smiled awkwardly in response.
Yeoreum, still smiling, asked another question, “Do you all commute daily?”
“Yes.”
“But some stay overnight?”
“That’s for night shifts.”
“Night shifts?”

“Yes. Employees take turns doing it. Sometimes, tired employees just spend the night in the dormitory, except for the head housekeeper.”
“Why?”
“It’s the chairman’s directive. Probably because the head housekeeper has a lot on their plate.”
Yeoreum asked, “Is the chairman very kind to the head housekeeper?”
“Yes. She’s been here the longest. And the chairman is kind to us too.”
Seeing Yeoreum’s skeptical look, they assured her, “Really. So, Miss, if you endure a little, the chairman’s heart might change towards you.”
“Right, Miss.”
They became quite comfortable, comforting Yeoreum and sharing various stories about Blue House.
After a lively conversation, Yeoreum took out her notebook and asked, “Could you tell me your names, please?”
The well-dressed man politely responded, “You can call me Driver Park.”

“Your name isn’t Driver Park, right?”
“…Yes?”
“Even if I call you by your title, I should know your name. What is it?”
With a smile, Yeoreum looked at him, causing him to reply somewhat flusteredly, “I’m Park Jeongseok.”
“You seem like a very respectable person, Driver Park Jeongseok.”
He smiled at her compliment.
“You’re a very upstanding person, Mr. Park Jeongseok.”
He smiled at her comment.
Yeoreum wrote his name in her notebook and then turned to the facility team.
“I’m Choi Sangjae.”
“You must have the best skills then.”

He too smiled.
“I’m Moon Seokbong.”
“Moon Seokbong? Do we have a celebrity here?”
The group laughed at Yeoreum’s joke, saying, “Actually, our Mr. Moon has beautiful handwriting.”
“Really?”
“He even won awards at national calligraphy competitions.”
“Wow, living up to your name as a master calligrapher, aren’t you?”
“It’s nothing much.”
He seemed bashful but couldn’t hide his pride.
Soon, the remaining person also shared his name, and they even mentioned the names and ages of colleagues who were off or out on errands.

Yeoreum meticulously recorded everything in her notebook.
“I’ll be living here from now on, so I hope you’ll all look after me.”
“Don’t mention it,” they urged her not to worry about it.
“I really enjoyed the tea today. And may I come to visit here sometimes?”
“Of course!”
They answered in unison.
“Thank you! Then I should be going now.”
Yeoreum, beaming, got up from where she had been sitting and walked out.
As if on cue, the men followed her.
Then, a sedan approached from the gate.

“It’s the legal team,” murmured Driver Park of the driving team.
“The legal team?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
