Yuli’s brow slowly furrowed as she watched the video.

“This is…”

It was completely different from what she had expected. On the screen, a brooch studded with tiny pearls appeared front and center. A hand adorned with elaborate nail art entered the frame and pressed firmly on a small slot beside the brooch with a pointed pin. Immediately, a miniature external memory card popped out.

The video ended with a close-up shot of the memory card. Unable to grasp its meaning, she replayed it several times. From repeated viewings, she realized one thing: the person who sent the video might be the same woman who had taken a selfie hugging Min Woo.

The nail art on the woman in the photo matched exactly with that of the person holding the memory card in the video.

But why send her this video?

She waited, wondering if more videos or photos might follow—but that was all.

“Is this your way of challenging me to a game?”

Muttering to herself, she was about to shove her phone into her pocket when it suddenly rang. The caller was Mrs. Ahn.

“Yes?”

[If you don’t have plans, would you like to stop by the house for dinner tonight? Haven’t you run out of those side dishes I gave you last time?]

It was as if Mrs. Ahn had overheard Yuli’s earlier excuse to Sun Young. Since Assemblyman Chae hadn’t mentioned anything, Mrs. Ahn still believed Yuli was staying at her officetel.
