Jae Ho got out of the car and was walking toward her.
“Why are you here already? Didn’t you go to the company dinner?”
Before he could speak, Yuli asked first. Jae Ho stopped in front of her and tilted his head slightly.
“It seems I should be the one asking you that…”
“Oh, I just happened to end up here while walking. It’s not like I came to see you… Ah.”
As Yuli hurriedly offered this excuse, he gently cupped her cheek with his hand. Startled, she looked up at him, and Jae Ho leaned closer to her.
“Have you been crying?”
“…Ah.”
For a moment, she was speechless, her mind going blank. Had her tear tracks really been that obvious? Flustered, Yuli quickly turned her head away. But soon his large hand gently grasped her chin and turned her face back toward him. After confirming the tears still glistening at the corners of her eyes, Jae Ho frowned.
“Was it because of Min Woo?”
His voice was flat and low, yet it was clear he was struggling hard to suppress his emotions. Yuli remained silent, simply gazing up at his face.
Maybe, unconsciously, she had walked all the way here. She didn’t know why, but just seeing him seemed to quietly soothe her wounded, churning heart—just as it had long ago when she used to calm herself by imagining crying openly in front of him.
“What did that guy do to you?”
