Even though she had emptied almost half a bottle of wine by herself, she wasn’t intoxicated at all; instead, her mind became clearer. On the contrary, Minwoo was already too drunk to control his body properly. Although he hadn’t slept well for the past few days, it was a bit unexpected.
When Yuri called Minwoo’s personal secretary, she appeared in 30 minutes. Yuri got up from her seat, leaving Minwoo to his secretary. Although the secretary offered to drive her, Yuri politely declined.
“I can take a taxi. It’s more convenient.”
When she went out alone, she couldn’t see Jeho and Claire. ‘They must have already left,’ she murmured to herself and went outside. She could have called a taxi using the app in front of the building, but she decided to walk a bit to clear her head.
As she descended the stairs to go to the restaurant’s main entrance, she heard a familiar voice somewhere.
“I’ll confirm that the two have left and then go. You go with Claire first.”
“Jeho, don’t do that. Let’s go together now. I told you to restrain yourself until everything is revealed. If you’re caught intentionally approaching, your relationship with…”
“I’ll wait for Claire. Go quickly.”
By the time Yuri reached the bottom of the stairs, their conversation had ended. Just as she was about to go back inside, she faced Jeho, who was coming out.
For a moment, Jeho’s face turned pale. Yuri couldn’t know how much of the conversation between him and Woo-Gyeol she had heard. Even though she and Congressman Chae were not explicitly mentioned, she couldn’t be sure.
“Why is Mr. Jeho here? Weren’t you supposed to be in Changwon?”
“I just arrived on my way to Seoul.”
“Oh, yes. And did you just meet your ex-girlfriend?”
Normally, he might have brushed it off, but the wine was beginning to take effect. Yuri gestured with a cold expression.
“Go ahead. My ex-girlfriend… Oh, no. The current girlfriend who might not even be aware of the progress might be waiting for you.”
Yuri stood tall, straightening her posture, and passed by Jeho. However, she couldn’t take more than a few steps before Jeho grabbed her arm.
“Let’s be clear about the terminology. Are you talking about ‘Girlfriend’ right now, or did you mean a friend who is a girl?”
“Why are you asking when you already know? Of course, it’s ‘Girlfriend,’ not just a friend who is a girl.”
Angered by Jeho’s confident response, Yuri glared at him fiercely and retorted.
“I suggested we live comfortably without constraints, not to meet multiple people at the same time.”
“It doesn’t seem appropriate coming from someone who booked a room and had a meal with another man.”
“I came here for a reason with Minwoo.”
“I also came for a reason.”
“Well, okay then. If that’s the case, go spend the night engaging in business with your girlfriend.”
Yuri shook off Jeho’s arm and walked past him. However, Jeho quickly caught up and grabbed her again.
“Are you jealous right now?”
With a smirk, Jeho pushed Yuri against the building wall. When she tried to escape, he held her against him by placing both hands on the wall.
“Ah, jealousy.”
Matching gazes with her, he whispered teasingly.
“You look irresistibly pretty when you’re jealous. Go ahead, be jealous. To your heart’s content.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
