“Can I come in?”
An unwelcome voice flowed from the speaker.
The visitor standing at the door was Minwoo. How did Minwoo know this place? Puzzled, Yuri opened the door without saying a word. As the door opened, Minwoo hastily entered.
“Sorry. I’ll wash my hands first.”
He headed straight to the bathroom in the bedroom. Washing his hands seemed like an excuse, perhaps to find traces of Jeho, if there were any. Minwoo walked to the sink, turned on the water, and thoroughly searched the bathroom. Fortunately, there was only one toothbrush, and there was no sign of men’s products like a razor.
Only then did Minwoo breathe a sigh of relief and come out to the living room. Yuri watched Minwoo, who moved around like he owned the place, with disapproving eyes.
“There’s a bathroom here too, you know?”
Yuri pointed to the bathroom next to the entrance with a stern gesture. But Minwoo just shrugged his shoulders without apologizing. Instead, he looked around with a twisted expression.
“Is this a house? It’s too small. It’s not even a prison.”
“Did you come all the way here to say that? What’s the matter?”
There was no point in asking how he found out the address. After all, she wouldn’t tell him. However, information slipped smoothly from Minwoo’s mouth.
“What else? I came to see you. You have no idea how surprised I was when I heard from Yuri that you moved out a week ago. Today, I finally talked to the representative and barely found out the address.”
So his father must have told him about this place. She wondered about the one who provided Minwoo with the address, even though she said he could cancel the marriage as he pleased.
“We’re not officially over yet. I have to show at least a semblance of having a meal together. Otherwise, rumors might circulate.”
“Did your father tell you to come here?”
“Yeah.”
Representative Chae’s words weren’t wrong. He said they should quietly cancel the marriage without causing a stir. So, it was true that they should still show a friendly appearance.
“Let’s go out and have dinner, and talk.”
Having a meal together wasn’t a big deal, so Yuri obediently followed Minwoo outside. But she thought they would go somewhere nearby, and he unexpectedly drove her in his car.
“Let’s just eat somewhere close.”
“I’ve already made a reservation.”
The place Minwoo took her to was a high-end French restaurant with a great view. They had even reserved a special room that couples often used for proposals.
Eating at such a place itself was burdensome, but Yuri followed the manager who guided them without refusing. On their way to the room, Yuri noticed a familiar back sitting by the window. She unknowingly stopped her steps.
It was only a back view, but she could recognize him at once. It was Jeho. He said he could only come up from Changwon tomorrow afternoon, so why is he here? On the opposite side of Jeho, a woman named Claire, whom she had seen in a photo, was sitting.
When Yuri didn’t follow, Minwoo turned around. He had already sensed that Jeho was here. Did he purposely bring her here to show that he knew Jeho was present?
“Should we pretend not to know?”
“No, don’t disturb them.”
Yuri turned away from them, trying to maintain a neutral expression as much as possible.
Meeting an ex-lover was Jeho’s freedom. They agreed not to tie each other down, so although she didn’t feel like it, she could understand. However, pretending to meet secretly and even lying made her feel belittled.
Yuri tried not to show any signs of agitation, but unconsciously, her hand holding the bag tightened.

“Woogie oppa, you’re running late, aren’t you?”
“Yeah. The last patient’s condition seems a bit serious.”
Thanks to things resolving more smoothly than expected, Jeho could return to Seoul a day early. He didn’t inform Yuri to surprise her. When he arrived at Seoul Station and was about to get into his car, he received an urgent call from Woogie.
― Jeho, please save me.
Claire returned the day before yesterday. They had promised to have dinner tonight, but there was a problem with the patient, and Woogie asked if Jeho could have dinner with Claire in his place.
He promised to come right after finishing his work. Claire and Woogie had met through Jeho while Woogie was studying abroad in the United States. Even after breaking up, they maintained a friendship through occasional contact.
“But, oppa, aren’t you tired? You just came up from Changwon.”
“It’s okay. Things got resolved well. I was planning to have a drink with Woogie to celebrate anyway.”
Manager Yoon, who had been in charge of overseas construction projects ten years ago, finally spoke. When he heard Jeho’s words about Vice Chairman Kwon surviving a recent heart attack, it seemed to shake his heart.
The incident ten years ago, which led to Vice Chairman Kwon stepping down, turned out to be a prank played by then Vice President Kwon, just as expected.
