“Mr. Jin has safely arrived in Singapore,” Uo-Gyeol informed Kwon Je Ho, who nodded while fixated on his tablet PC screen. Uo-Gyeol set his fork down, pushing aside his salad. “At first, I didn’t understand your decision. But after reconsidering, I realized it’s not entirely bad.”

Je Ho finally looked up at Uo-Gyeol. “Min Woo, that cunning guy, could only sell Mr. Jin’s information about President Park, nothing else. Since President Park is solely domestic, it’s clear he wasn’t involved in harming the Vice-Chairman. So, there was no need for Mr. Jin to stay close to Min Woo.”

After a pause, Uo-Gyeol continued, “Still, you shouldn’t have passed that information to Congressman Chae. It could have been the most powerful weapon against Min Woo.”

“My priority is finding out who tried to harm my father, not Min Woo’s downfall,” Je Ho asserted.

“What are you doing then? I’m not saying you shouldn’t date Ms. Chae Yul Li, but your approach had intentions.”

Je Ho’s lips curled into a bitter smile at the pointed remark. “What if it turns out Congressman Chae was behind it all?”

Je Ho remained silent, unable to confess his thoughts to Uo-Gyeol.

Despite knowing it’s madness, he couldn’t let go of Yul Li now. His regret from a decade ago, leaving for America, was enough.

As for his feelings for her, he wasn’t sure yet.

But he now needed Yul Li. That much was certain.

“Are you okay, sis?” Yul Li’s younger sister, Yuri, approached her with concern as she briefly returned home to pack. “Mom went out to a gathering.”

Yuri quickly informed her, “She’s trying to control the narrative before any weird rumors spread about the wedding yesterday.”

“That’s good.”

“You’re better off, sis. Bad guys like Min Woo deserve bad girls, or just watching from afar. Otherwise, you get hurt.”

Sometimes Yuri seemed to have a deeper insight into Min Woo than Yul Li herself. Her candid advice often hit the mark.

“So, where are you staying now?”

Yuri seemed in a good mood, smiling as she followed Yul Li around.

“Are you with Je Ho?”

Yul Li didn’t respond, silently packing clothes into her suitcase. Spotting the silver dress Hyun-Gyeong had chosen for them as a couple’s outfit, she placed it in last and closed the suitcase.

“I’m leaving now.”

After a quick embrace with Yuri, Yul Li dragged her suitcase out. Starting the car with the trunk packed, she felt a flutter of excitement at the thought of joining Je Ho with her belongings.

Je Ho had sent a text a couple of hours earlier, but Yul Li hadn’t even checked it. He considered calling, then decided against it, not wanting to wake her if she was asleep.

“……Um.”
As the end of the workday approached, Sun-yeong courageously approached Yul Li. Although nobody except Je Ho and Director Kim attended the weekday wedding, it seemed everyone knew it had been called off. All the coworkers showed concern for Yul Li, even if it was a political marriage.

“Didn’t want to pry by calling, but are you okay, Yul Li?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Thanks for worrying.”

Relieved, Sun-yeong returned to her desk. Je Ho watched her leave and then sent another text.

Again, there was no response.

Although he had assured Sun-yeong that everything was fine, Je Ho couldn’t help feeling uneasy after leaving Yul Li alone. Worried she might be collapsed somewhere, or crying alone after the shock of the previous day, he found it hard to focus on work.

When it was finally time to leave, Je Ho quickly got up and drove home. The journey felt exceptionally long today, and his heart raced as he neared the house.

Entering the house, Je Ho stopped in his tracks, astonished at the unexpected scene before him.

“……Ah.”

Startled by his arrival, Yul Li turned around. She stood in the kitchen, which looked like a battlefield post-explosion.

“You’re back?”

The table was covered with various dishes. It looked like a hotel banquet service had been there. ‘Is it my birthday?’ he wondered.

“What’s all this?”

Instead of replying, Yul Li awkwardly pointed to the double oven.

“I used the oven, hope that’s okay?”

Je Ho nodded, and she brightly explained her cooking adventure.

“I stopped by the seafood market. The silver cod is marinated in a soy sauce base and grilled. There’s shrimp tempura and seafood pancakes too.”

Now he understood why she hadn’t checked her messages. She must have been busy cooking non-stop.

“I made some side dishes and other things too. I have to earn my keep here.”

Removing her apron and turning off the stove, Yul Li’s cooking skills, though not professional, were competent, honed through volunteering.

Unaware of the flour on her forehead, Je Ho chuckled and brushed it off with his fingertip. As she looked up in surprise, he quickly captured her lips.

“This is enough for the meal.”

After a while, he whispered, “And this, for ignoring my text.”

Their second kiss was longer and more intense.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
