Unlike the quiet village, the graveyard was densely packed with tombstones.

Well, many of them were barely marked—just rough stones that could hardly even be called tombstones.

The village chief spoke with a somber expression.

“More than half of them died. Of those, half starved to death, and the other half perished in battle.”

Aidan silently pulled a bottle of liquor from Kais’s saddlebag.

Since there were too many graves to pass by each one, he poured a steady stream of liquor in a straight line from the entrance.

Then, lifting his sheathed sword to his chest, he bowed his head in silent tribute.

As Aidan paid his respects, a cold wind coiled gently over the graveyard, as if comforting the souls of the departed.

His grief-laden hair and cloak fluttered heavily in the breeze.

Even those who had been grumbling fell silent, staring wide-eyed at the strange, blue-tinted wind wrapping around them.

The village chief was the first to regain his composure and followed Aidan’s posture in solemn remembrance. Seeing this, Brody and the villagers unconsciously clasped their hands together as well.

The sorrowful wind, which had been swirling mournfully, astonishingly began to subside the moment Aidan lifted his head.

When he turned to leave, the rest of the group followed him silently out of the graveyard.

A short while later, Aidan asked in a subdued voice and with downcast eyes,

“Have you assessed the extent of the damage?”
