“Why do the two of you look so exhausted?”

Looking at Brody, who kept yawning in the conference room, and Aidan, whose eyes were shadowed with dark circles, River furrowed his brows.

His expression seemed to say, “Didn’t you two reconcile nicely and come back yesterday? Why are you like this now?”

Unlike River, however, the others present today weren’t worried about their apparent exhaustion. Instead, they sent them knowing, faint smiles.

“You must’ve stayed up all night—how exactly did you spend your time?”

Those smiles surely carried that kind of implication.

Yet even those glances couldn’t reach Brody, who was too drained to care.

Right before her eyes, River was delivering a crucial presentation. He, too, looked unusually irritable—likely because he’d stayed up all night planning for what lay ahead.

“So then, after that, we’ll all move together from the fortress to Count Coral’s territory.”

Since his reasoning made sense, Brody and Aidan nodded in agreement.

River’s proposed plan was as follows:

First and foremost, constructing the fortress was urgent. Therefore, while distributing a set amount of relief supplies to the village, they also needed to recruit labor for the fortress construction.

They would first pair off three knights and dispatch them to various regions.

These knights would deliver urgent relief supplies, explain the upcoming national project, and announce the labor recruitment. They didn’t need to go into excessive detail—just informing people that a fortress would be built in the Sidamo region to strengthen national defense would suffice.

River himself would head straight to Sidamo, the future fortress site, to inspect the area, gather intelligence, formulate plans, and lay the groundwork.
