“Ah, he said thanks for saving him.”
But Brody hadn’t properly heard Aiden’s latest response.
Suddenly, she felt a piercing pain in her heart.
“Hmph.”
“Brody!”
Seeing Brody lose her balance while clutching her chest, Aiden shouted out in concern.
“Heugh.”
If before it felt like a surge of warmth was washing over her, now it was as if a sharp spear was pointedly targeting and stabbing into Brody.
In an instant, sweat began to pour from Brody’s face and neck.
Behind them, galloping at a frightening speed, was the princess alone, driving her massive golden-maned horse.
Soon, flames sprang up around her, setting the withered field ablaze.
Whoooosh! Fwoooosh!
“Your Highness, the princess!”
Jax shouted from beyond the flames, possibly after removing the poisoned herb from his mouth.
These flames were a reaction that occurred when the princess couldn’t control her own power.
This made it seem unlikely that anyone could approach her—not even she and her soldiers.
“Protect Her Highness! Ready your bows, align!”
At Jax’s shout, the soldiers finally snapped back to reality, leaving behind their panicked steeds.
“Your Highness, please be careful!”
It wasn’t clear if his voice reached her beyond the flames.
But the princess had already detached her focus from everything else.
Her obsessive golden eyes were solely fixed on Brody.
Brody watched over Aiden’s shoulder as the princess, backlit by red flames and with her golden hair flying wildly, approached them.
Her intense beauty sent shivers down her spine.
If there were an angel, no, a death angel in that form, it would look like that.
But soon, the pain clouded her vision.
“Heugh. Huh, huh.”
A terrible heat spread from her heart, along her veins, leaving a piercing pain throughout her body. It felt as if pointed needles were jabbing her from the inside.
Aiden bit his lip, sat Brody down, and held her tightly. His large hand firmly pressed her back before carefully instilling a cool energy into her.
“Ah!”
The energies of the princess and Aiden clashed within her.
Brody, her face buried painfully in his chest, gripped his shirt with one hand and his right arm with the other.
But the hand gripping the cloth kept slipping, as if unconsciously trying not to hurt Aiden.
“Brody, it’s okay. You can hold on tighter. I’m fine, so please, just hang on a little longer.”
“Uh, uh….”
In the end, Brody gripped everything her hand touched tightly. Snap. Red marks started to appear on Aiden’s neck and shoulders.
Brody felt like she was about to collapse from the swirling extremes of energies inside her.
One moment it was scalding hot, the next it was freezing cold.
It was an indescribable feeling, as if suffering internal burns and frostbite simultaneously.
Clang, as if she were metal being tempered.
But Brody wasn’t metal; she was human, made of soft flesh and blood.
She soon felt the terror of shattering under the agony.
The two opposing forces were evenly matched, neither pushing the other out, using Brody’s body as their battleground.
At this rate, it would be better to be consumed quickly by one side’s energy.
“Your Highness, just… huh, huh, do it at once. Don’t, don’t control, just…”
“No. That would hurt you.”
“I’m, already, hurting. I think… I’ll die…”
Aiden’s shirt front was soaked with Brody’s tears.
Her body quivered as if seized by spasms. Aiden had to repeatedly prevent her from falling off the horse, as her body jolted uncontrollably.
A decision had to be made.
Aiden loosened the reins, letting Kais run freely.
And then, he wrapped his arms around Brody.
The subtle energies that were moving began to surge violently.
“Hmph.”
A cold energy flooded into Brody like a waterfall.
Screech[Dash]. Screech[Dash].
Unidentifiable noises confused Brody’s mind, pounding at her ears.
Her fingertips felt stiff, and her lips began to tremble.
However, she no longer felt the pain that had been tormenting her from within.
“How dare you!”
The furious voice of the empress echoed from afar.
“Brody, Brody. Are you alright?”
Feeling her body slacken as his grip loosened, Aiden called out in concern.
Brody coldly lifted her unresponsive eyes and forced a smile at him.
“……Yes.”
Right after her response, Brody closed her eyes.
The ground shook, and the sound of horse hooves rang out.
The empress’s white horse had caught up with Kais.
Aiden turned his gaze toward the empress, who was amidst the flames encircling him.
Again, the two energies began to clash.
The world was either pitch black or blindingly white.
At least, that’s how Brody saw it.
It was a space that was either peaceful or monotonous.
The noise that broke that moment made Brody furrow her brows.
‘Ugh……, so heavy.’
It felt like she had been suffering from chills for a long time.
Contrary to that, she now felt incredibly warm and secure.
But something was unbearably heavy.
As if she had turned into a waterlogged cotton ball, she couldn’t move a muscle.
Brody decided to try something else.
She attempted to open her eyelids.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
