There had often been people who were kind to him out of pity for the discrimination he faced, but no one readily accepted his prayers or treatments.
But to Brody, who was from another world, he was nothing more or less than a good-looking priest.
Adonia found a low chair about a foot tall and sat Brody on it. Then he took both of her hands and began to pray.
A soft white light emanated from Adonia, flowing through their clasped hands and enveloping Brody’s body.
It felt like being coated in warm hairdryer air.
Her body began to feel lighter.
As Brody looked in wonder at her glowing body, Adonia, who hadn’t yet let go of her hands, spoke.
“Um, Madam is…?”
He tilted his head and looked at Brody with curiosity.
Suddenly, Adonia sniffed as if he were an animal. Brody, taken aback by his blatant sniffing, recoiled.
“What are you doing?”
Already uncomfortable with Adonia touching her hands (although it wasn’t exactly fondling), Aidan was further displeased by his sudden behavior and tried to push him away.
“It smells like wood from you, Madam. And…”
She flinched. ‘Smells like wood’? Could he detect her abilities? That would be problematic.
As she pondered, the light emanating from Adonia began to change.
From white to blue.
“You emit an aura of a curse, Madam.”
The strange voice clearly came from Adonia, but it didn’t feel like his voice.
Most shocking was the content.
‘A curse? Could he be talking about the magic potion Jax gave me?’
She wanted to ask, but for some reason, her lips wouldn’t move.
With a devout expression, Brody listened to the voice that resounded like an organ.
‘What… is this?’
Brody hesitated due to the unfamiliar sensation. Unfazed by her confusion, Adonia continued speaking with half-closed, hazy eyes.
“To the north, you shall go far north.”
“There is something waiting for you, Madam.”
“That is… very old… terribly sad…”
Her vision blurred, and a hazy figure appeared before her. Two deep sapphire glows flickered like flames, staring back at her.
A pain tightened around her heart.
“Gasp.”
“Cold. It’s cold. So cold…”
The surroundings were engulfed in an intense blue, glacier light. Brody suddenly felt the chill piercing her.
Her hand, entwined with Adonia’s, began to tremble. But whether it was her shaking or Adonia’s, she couldn’t tell.
Soon a massive cold enveloped and swallowed her. From inside her mouth to her lungs, it felt as though frost was setting in, freezing bit by bit.
“Such a frigid aura… it will freeze your entire body, madam.”
“No, please, stop… stop…”
Brody expelled her freezing breath in quick gasps, her eyes trembling. She looked desperately but saw nothing as darkness engulfed her vision.
Voices pierced the darkness again.
“But, but madam…”
“Enough with the nonsense!”
“Wha!”
Suddenly, Brody’s vision brightened.
The worn, rugged wooden floor appeared again before her eyes.
“Gasp.”
Brody let out a ragged breath and slid to the floor. As both her hands touched the floor, her breathing sounded strained.
“What was that… what…?”
She shook her head and clutched her chest. Lifting her head, she saw Latua, whose skin was darkened as if burned, hoisting Adonia up by his collar.
And right beside him, Ian perilously aimed his sword near Adonia’s neck.
Ian looked as if he was about to slice Adonia at any moment, his expression fearsome.
Latua broke into a cold sweat, thinking how dangerous it would have been had he been a second late.
But he showed no sign of panic, merely shaking Adonia by the collar he held, cursing.
“You idiot! Who are you trying to fool? If the master saw you, he would have ripped out your hair!”
Latua flung Adonia around and apologized to Brody and Ian.
“I apologize. Prophecy is in the apprentice stage and should not be done. This one has poor control. He’s a novice who hasn’t been trained, so his context will be off.”
“That’s right! Don’t listen to such nonsense.”
Adonia stood up, rubbing his buttocks, and said. Despite what he had just said, he brazenly told them not to listen, and absurdly, he was laughing.
“Hmph!”
Brody and Ian lost the timing to get mad at Adonia.
“Prophecy?”
Was what he just said a prophecy? Brody recalled his words, furrowing her eyebrows. Ian, who was sitting down, supporting Brody, growled.
“A prophecy? Isn’t that something only high-ranking clergy can perform?”
At Ian’s pointed words, Latua smacked Adonia’s head, yelling.
“What are you smiling for! Apologize now.”
Adonia bowed to Ian and Brody, still in his hunched position.
“I’m sorry! It wasn’t intentional.”
Latua gave a detailed explanation to the two.
“This guy has top-level healing divine powers, but he’s a complete failure at prophecy. If the master were here, he’d have had a stroke. You should know, because of his background… he could be expelled from the religious circle. Please forgive us.”
Knowing that these people treated Adonia, a Lupes, with kindness and received treatment from him, Latua understood that they had, if not a liking, at least a sympathy for the Lupes. Playing this card, Latua implored for leniency.
Adonia joined in.
“Yes, yes! Don’t even consider my words as seriously as a tick sticking to you!”
“Shut your mouth!”
Brody felt uncomfortable at Latua’s harsh treatment of Adonia, more than at Adonia’s prophecy, and waved her hand.
It seemed like Latua might throw Adonia overboard if she didn’t intervene.
“It’s fine. It’s not a life or death matter. Stop apologizing.”
Adonia briefly looked up at Brody and immediately lifted his head with a cheerful smirk.
However, Aidan still glared at him with his sword sheathed. Meeting Aidan’s icy gaze, Adonia scratched his head as if to apologize, and chuckled.
‘Laughing?’
Against the fearsome aura of Aidan, known as the Ice Wall Grand Duke, you couldn’t call it anything but tremendous nerve.
“But Adonia, do you remember what you said to me?”
“What did I say?”
“That I’m cursed.”
“Did I say that? I’m not well aware of my own prophecies.”
“……I see.”
Brody let out a sigh of disappointment. She had hoped that maybe Jax could undo the magic medium. Yes, it couldn’t have been found so easily.
Male lead is a Destined Young Husband (Female-dominant)
One-sentence summary: Wife-master, listen to my explanation!
Li Ruantang, a young lady from a prestigious family, stumbled and fell. When she woke up, she saw a noble and beautiful young man sitting by her bedside, wiping away tears.
The young master had slightly reddened eyes, and his every move exuded charm.
The sight made Li Ruantang’s eyes hot and her heart flutter. After all, she had made a bet with the young master Meng from the neighboring family. If she couldn’t marry a husband before the end of the year, she would have to admit defeat and give up the jade she had worked so hard to obtain.
Outside the window, the flowers were in full bloom.
Rather than losing the bet, the jade, and her face, Li Ruantang calculated that it would be better to seek marriage with the young master in front of her, killing three birds with one stone.
…
Meng Jun never thought that an accident during a spring outing would lead to them rolling down a cliff and into a river, yet still survive.
Now they were trapped in an unknown village, and Meng Jun had overheard that the family who had rescued them had their own intentions.
After all, it was Li Ruantang who had lost her mind and sought marriage first. He was only trying to protect himself!
Glancing at Li Ruantang, who was listing her own merits, the young husband’s voice softened, and he blushed as he lied, “W-wife-master, Wife-master, don’t you remember me?”
The young husband’s voice was clear and handsome, coaxing Li Ruantang’s heart to be soft and sweet, and she spared no effort to protect him.
It wasn’t until they returned to the capital that Li Ruantang suddenly remembered.
When they had fallen off the cliff, in order not to implicate Wei Yunruo, whom he secretly admired, the young husband had instead pulled her, who was slightly farther away, down the cliff with him…
