Jax, who had been struggling, finally went limp.

Even after the vine that Brody had commanded disappeared, Jax didn’t move a muscle.

‘Is he…dead?’

Aidan alternated his astonished gaze between Brody and Jax.

Brody hugged Aidan’s neck once again and buried her face in his shoulder. Her body was shaking faintly.

“Let’s go, Your Highness.”

Brody spoke as she removed the last purple leaf near Jax’s nose.

Upon closer inspection, Aidan saw that Jax’s chest was rising and falling.

Brody had used ‘Dream Place Leaves’ to put Jax into a stupor.

Aidan slowly got up while comforting Brody.

“Ah! That!”

As Aidan began to gather their belongings, Brody suddenly reached out.

At the end of her pointing finger lay Jax’s sword.

Though puzzled, Aidan obediently lifted Jax’s sword so Brody could see.

“This must be an expensive sword?”

Brody chuckled as she spoke.

After the blond man violently closed the door, the turmoil inside the room seemed to have calmed.

Time passed without any reaction. When some of the onlookers outside the door dispersed, leaving only those who chose to stay, the door opened again.

A menacing man stepped out, carrying a frail and pale woman in his arms.

The innkeeper looked like he wanted to say something, but having witnessed the sword-wielding scene earlier, he simply wore a gloomy face.

Aidan walked slowly, hood of his robe pulled low.

Those gathered in the hallway stepped aside, pressing themselves against the walls, as they looked in awe at the victor emerging from the room.

Soon a path cleared in the hallway.

“Milord…are you leaving? Just like that…”

Aidan sighed when he realized that the innkeeper’s term of address had changed from ‘guest’ to ‘milord.’ The innkeeper, who had plucked up the courage to speak, shrank back.

Aidan changed his mind about calling the innkeeper aside for an explanation.

It seemed better to make the situation known in front of multiple people.

“The madman in there is just passed out, not dead. It’s best to just leave him until he wakes up.”

“Wait… you mean to leave him in there?”

The innkeeper asked with a vexed expression, and Brody interrupted.

“Yes, just treat him like any other guest. Here, this will cover the cost.”

As Brody nodded, Aidan reluctantly extended Jax’s ornate and clearly valuable sword.

The innkeeper’s wrinkles seemed to ease for a moment.

However, he looked between the sword in his hand and the one at Aidan’s waist, his expression becoming troubled again.

“This is…”

He had recognized that the sword belonged to the madman lying in the room.

“As you know, that blond man is the one who destroyed the room furniture. We are the victims here, our good time interrupted.”

The onlookers nodded, agreeing that this couple was not responsible for covering the damages.

‘It’s not enough, but for now, it feels somewhat relieving.’

The one who had proposed not only compensating for the broken items but also sticking Jax with their inn bill was Brody.

Although she wanted to do more, she realized it would not be wise to provoke him further at this point.

Brody sorted her thoughts, making a promise for the future.

“Darling, let’s go. I can’t stay here any longer, worried about what that strange man might do.”

Brody patted Aidan’s shoulder.

‘Darling.’

The word made Aidan stiffen again.
Brody had anticipated it, having been told that they must pretend to be a married couple until she left this place. It was nothing new, given that the charade had started when Jax appeared.

Yet, somehow, hearing that word made her mind go blank for a moment.

Noticing that Aiden remained still, Brody tilted her head and met his gaze.

Only then did he nod, like a robot that had been switched on.

Brody saw the tips of Aiden’s ears flush red and asked worriedly,

“Are you okay? Is something wrong?”

“Ah, no, I’m fine. I’m fine, …wife. Nothing’s wrong.”

He did it, he said it! He was proud of his courage. But his face was turning even redder than when he had said he was fine. Brody noticed his stuttering and made a puzzled expression.

‘Ah, what kind of title is that…’

Brody inwardly clicked her tongue at Aiden’s innocence, which was always more naive than expected.

However, she said nothing as he made his way out through the crowd and laid her hand on his shoulder.

Soon, an inn servant brought Aiden’s horse, Kais, from the stable.

“Can you ride?”

Aiden asked as he helped Brody onto the horse, looking worried.

She felt her body already aching at the thought of the forced march they had to undertake soon, but simply nodded.

“We have to. We can’t stay here.”

With a gloomy nod, Aiden jumped up behind Brody.

Starting the horse at a light pace, he then asked her,

“Will it be okay?”

“Huh? Ah, you mean the innkeeper.”

Aiden nodded.

He was thinking about how the innkeeper, who had been collateralized by Jax’s sword, could be robbed or even harmed.

Brody calmly replied,

“He’ll be fine. That person won’t do anything to tarnish his reputation. He will let go of that small amount of money.”

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
