A welldressed man with dark blond hair scattered in the sunlight approached Brody with dramatic gestures.
Brody looked at him incredulously.
He was Jacks McCarthy, the male protagonist of the original novel.

Brody’s first impression, actually seeing him for the first time, was that he looked very much like a prince character from a famous animation in her previous world.
In appearance, that is.
She didn’t like it when she read it in the novel, and she didn’t like it in person either.

Unknowingly, Brody scowled.
And Aidan stopped, looking at Brody’s expression.

That was the Brody he remembered.
Not like now, looking at him with clear, questioning eyes.
It was a sight he’d never seen before.
“Brody, it’s okay. I know it’s hard for you to come back because you failed.”
Brody was shocked and looked at Aidan without thinking.
And in a moment of eye contact, Brody realized.
‘He knows everything. Why I was in the northern enemy camp. And my real name too. Jax, that rascal must have blabbed everything.’
Feeling humiliated, she bit her lip and bowed her head.
It was not something ‘she’ did but something the previous Brody had planned to do, yet she could not look at Aidan straight in the eye.
Jax thought that Brody was bowing her head feeling guilty and opened his verbose mouth again.
“I forgive everything. I won’t blame you. So let’s go back together.”
Brody immediately imagined growing a vine plant from the tree above, tightly tying Jax up and hanging him upside down.
No, at least she wanted to shut that tactless fellow’s mouth.
‘Forgiveness? Responsibility? What are you saying to a kid who risked her life for you without any reward? Brody, why on earth did you follow that Jax kid around? Really don’t understand, don’t understand.’
She deeply sighed, barely suppressing her bubbling emotions, and raised her head.
And, crossing her arms, she called him coldly.
“Duke Jax.”
“Brody, why call me so formally? Just call me Jax Ora, as usual.”
Jax said with a benevolent face, as if doing her a favor.
But Brody did not change her expression, emphasizing each syllable as she called him again.
“Jax, Duke, Your, Grace.”
She then spoke, watching the flustered Jax.
“You said you forgive my failure?”
“Yes, I will never blame you. You know how much I value you. I’m satisfied that you’re safe.”
“Then it’s good.”
“Hmm?”
“Since you’re not blaming me, I will go my way. Your Grace, please don’t bother yourself further with this humble girl and return to the capital now.”
Brody quickly lifted her skirt in a polite manner but hastily bowed and turned into the forest.
Jax, seeing Brody’s attitude for the first time, stared blankly at her retreating figure for a while.
“Wait! Brody!”
Jax seemed to regain his senses and called Brody’s name, moving his feet to chase her.
But his body was blocked by a fierce beast with black hair, a head taller than him.
“Didn’t she tell you to go back?”
But Jax disregarded Aidan’s words, lightly stepping and trying to pass him to run to Brody.
Then, lo and behold! Aidan blocked him again.
But a moment later, Aidan was also flustered, just like Jax.
“Wait, wait, Your Grace! She’s gone!”
At those words, when he looked back, the figure of Brody, striding away, disappeared in an instant.
This was not the time.
