The Ex-Husband Demands Reunion (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 23
Ordinary flowers or weeds were hardly the sort of thing to catch Ellen’s interest.
It was even more unfamiliar to see Ellen taking a liking to moss clinging to a rotting log and even the ants crawling over it.

As they walked, Philip kept glancing sideways at Ellen’s condition. Ellen walked perfectly fine, chatting casually with Philip all the while.
Thanks to that, Philip remained calm—but a part of him still felt a twinge of disappointment.
‘I could carry you today, my lady. When will you say your legs hurt? When you’re thirsty, perhaps?’
“Oh, I’m thirsty.”
Had his thoughts somehow reached her? The moment Philip heard Ellen’s words—spoken almost as soon as he’d thought them—he perked up his ears.
Just as the words “Shall we head back for water? Aren’t you tired too?” rose to his throat—
“Just a moment.”
Ellen asked Philip’s permission and went to the streamside, cupping water in both hands to drink.
Droplets scattered from her gesture, sparkling beautifully in the sunlight. Her red lips, exhaling a cool breath, glistened moistly.
“……?”
Philip, momentarily entranced by this sight, sensed something odd. Ellen always drank water from a clean cup when thirsty. She was not the sort to scoop and drink straight from a stream, however clear it might be.
“Then let’s go.”

He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
