The Ex-Husband Demands Reunion (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
The moment I opened my eyes to that unfamiliar yet euphoric sensation, I was so startled I even forgot to scream.
‘Didn’t I definitely fall asleep while reading a novel?’
A sculpted, breathtakingly handsome man—the kind you’d only see in fantasy films—was holding me right now. And this man was far from ordinary.
‘…Is this a lucid dream?’
Otherwise, there’s no way I’d be in this situation.
I rolled my eyes slightly to survey the surroundings illuminated by the soft glow of the nightlight.
Lavish medieval-style furniture and a magnificent chandelier were faintly visible.
Moreover, the bed I was lying on looked fit for nobility. It was so unreal that I quickly concluded this must be a dream.
‘So it really is a dream.’
My mind relaxed. Since the dream felt so vivid, I wondered if I might even be able to talk soon.
“Um… Excuse me?”
“‘Excuse me’? Don’t you even know your husband’s name?”
Huh? The man answered! What an incredible dream.
“Me? Husband? What’s his name?”
“This woman is unbelievable!”
The man stood up and walked out of the room as he replied,
“Isn’t your husband Count Philip Morris?”
Count Philip Morris!
That’s the name of the supporting character who aids the protagonists Laila and Marlboro in the romance fantasy novel I read before falling asleep.
I let out a hollow laugh.
‘I’m dreaming about Count Philip Morris… So does that mean I’m Ellen?’
Ellen is his wife.
She craves her husband’s love yet indulges in extravagance, and—unaware that his adopted son Marlboro is the hidden heir to the throne—resents him.
On top of that, she grows jealous even of Laila, her kind daughter-in-law, and commits all sorts of wicked acts until she’s eventually divorced.
If only she’d stopped her evil deeds at that point. But instead, she relentlessly tormented Marlboro and Laila—
and as a result, Ellen meets her end by being forced to wear a red-hot iron mermaid dress as a gruesome punishment.
‘Of all the roles to dream about, why the mother-in-law? It’d be better if I were the heroine.’
Just then, Philip returned.
Seeing him drying his damp hair with a towel, it seemed he’d just washed up.
‘Oh, is this what they call visual therapy?’
Just looking at him felt like a luxury for my eyes.
Thanks to that, my earlier petulance completely vanished.
‘Viewing things from the mother-in-law’s perspective is actually the best.’
Philip is the most handsome, powerful, and exceptional man in this novel.
‘But which part of the novel is this situation from?’
While I was lost in thought for a moment, Philip’s sharp gaze turned toward me.
“My lady, don’t play coy. That won’t erase the seal you stamped just now.”
From those words, I realized exactly which scene from the novel this dream corresponded to.
Ellen had slapped the bride Laila and ruined her wedding dress the day before her adopted son’s wedding.
Because there was a spare dress, the ceremony proceeded safely, though the atmosphere became comparatively modest.
After the newlyweds left for their honeymoon, Philip demanded a divorce from Ellen. Reacting as she always had, Ellen came up with a scheme of her own:
She promised to stamp the divorce papers if he spent the night with her.
The novel described it like this:
[“But it must be exactly like our honeymoon night. Remember? Twice.”That was something Philip could never do while sober. So Ellen believed he’d back down as he used to.
But unexpectedly, Philip was resolute.
“You still have no shame, do you?”
His determination to rid himself of this wicked wife was unwavering.
“Fine. Here are the divorce papers. I’ll prepare the finalized documents shortly.”
Philip stamped the papers first, then declared solemnly,
Trending
“Even so, since I don’t love you, I won’t even kiss you.”
Ellen gestured to Philip with an indifferent expression.]
‘This is exactly that scene.’
The moment when Count Philip Morris and the villainess Ellen spent the night together.
It was a scene I’d wanted to see more of, but because the novel was rated for all ages, the description was brief.
The crucial part simply ended with: “Outside the window, birds sang as morning sunlight filled the room.”
‘I really am hopeless. Was I that disappointed about missing the morning birdsong?’
To even dream about it like this…
Just then, Philip embraced me again.
He seemed determined to fulfill the “twice.”
It felt awkward, but it was just a dream—and missing out on such a once-in-a-lifetime handsome man would be a shame.
So I reached out both hands and gladly hugged him back.
It was so bright that even without opening my eyes, I could sense daylight.
‘What time is it? My phone…’
I reached out, fumbling across the bed.
‘Ugh, I don’t want to go to my part-time job.’
Suddenly, my fingertips brushed against someone, startling me into opening my eyes.
I saw the broad back of an unfamiliar man.
‘…Huh? Why is there a man in my house?’
Holding my breath, I carefully checked my condition.
‘Huh?!’
A catastrophic disaster had struck! My vision went black.
“Kyaaaaaah!”
The dolphin-like scream that burst out involuntarily jolted the man awake, and he sat up abruptly.
‘Lord! I’ll kill this guy myself and go straight to heaven!’
Without a second’s hesitation, I launched a kick.
“Hey! Pervert!”
I’m a fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Assaulting someone brings harsher penalties, but this wasn’t the time to worry about that.
“Huhh!”
The man, hit by my kick before he could even see my face, tumbled under the bed.
Seeing that, a bit of rationality returned.
‘Was that an overreaction?’
Truthfully, yesterday I’d beaten up seven thugs who were threatening two women on a deserted road and sent them to the hospital.
During the fight, I’d taken a hit to the head with a wooden club, but it hadn’t really affected me.
By the time things settled down, the police arrived after the women reported it. I was arrested too, but thanks to my lawyer friends, I was allowed to go home right away.
Still, the matter wasn’t fully resolved—they said I’d be summoned for further questioning later.
Of course, I don’t regret standing up against injustice to protect the weak.
But one of the thugs I hit was in serious condition, so I couldn’t help feeling uneasy.
To calm my nerves, I stayed up all night reading a romance fantasy novel—and now I wake up to this mess.
“Why—why are you doing this?”
“You’re asking like you don’t know?”
I slapped the man’s cheek as hard as I could as he tried to get up.
‘If I can’t stand by when others are victimized, how could I possibly tolerate it happening to me!’
I threw a blanket over the man, who’d spun around like a top and collapsed.
This way, he couldn’t see my face, and it’d be easier to subdue him.
Now I began thoroughly beating him from every angle.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Ugh! M-Mistress!”
“Mistress? Are you insane? How did you get into my room?”
ads
“What do you mean—urk!”
“You did it to me, didn’t you? Didn’t you?”
“Well, of course—ugh! Didn’t you ask for it twice?”
“Twice? What the hell are you talking about?”
I couldn’t believe it. Even after all that, I hadn’t woken up?
‘Did yesterday’s fight exhaust me so much that I wouldn’t notice even if someone attacked me?’
Anyway, his confession as a criminal only fueled my rage further. I unleashed a ruthless side kick.
Thud!
“Kuhh!”
The blanket-covered man flew across the room, slammed into the wall, and rolled onto the floor.
His muscles were so hard my ankle throbbed.
‘He must work out a lot. What if he fights back?’
I had to incapacitate him before that happened.
Without giving him a chance to resist, I started pummeling him wildly.
“You! Were you with those guys yesterday? Did you commit this crime while I slept just to humiliate me?”
“Guhh! Crime? What are you talking about?”
Groaning from the continuous beating, he made an absurd claim:
“Weren’t you the one who begged and clung to me first?”
My blood pressure shot to my head.
“What? Begged? Are you crazy? Fine, go ahead and die!”
Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack!
“Guhh!”
Under my relentless assault, he kept groaning.
“How dare someone like you say I begged you? Even lies have their limits!”
“Lies? Ugh! Why would I lie about something like that?”
Not only did he not beg for mercy, he kept talking back, which only made me angrier.
“When did I—when did I ever—!”
I stomped on him fiercely, letting out an enraged dolphin-like shriek.
“You’re really going too far! Weren’t you thrilled last night?”
“What thrilled? Thrilled my ass! You were seriously pathetic!”
“…Huh?”
“Enough! Just die, I said!”
“Uwaaah!”
My venomous kick made the man scream even louder.
“Kyaaah! Mistress!”
“Why are you doing this again!”
“Please calm down! Sob sob!”
Strange, shrill screams—I turned to see four maids in uniform, terrified, who must have entered at some point.
“…?”
Only then did my surroundings register.
A spacious, opulent room filled with classically elegant furniture, a plush carpet beneath my bare feet.
White curtains at the large window gracefully embraced the morning sunlight.
‘Wait, this isn’t my room.’
It felt vaguely familiar, yet utterly foreign.
Flustered, I just rolled my eyes—and one of the maids hesitantly approached to help me into a robe.
‘Huh?’
Realizing my state belatedly, I snatched the robe and quickly put it on.
“That bastard!”
Since I was in this state because of him, my anger flared again. As I lunged at him once more, the maids shrieked tearfully and grabbed my arms and legs.
“Let go!”

“Kyaaaah! Please forgive our rudeness! Sob sob!”
“Cough! Hack!”
Just then, the man pushed his face out from under the blanket, coughing violently.
“My lady!”
‘My lady?’
His bangs were soaked with cold sweat from how thoroughly I’d beaten him, and blood streamed from both nostrils.
Yet he remained a strikingly refined, jet-black-haired beauty.
In fact, an absolutely peerless, breathtakingly handsome man.
I was utterly bewildered.
The man, tightly wrapped in the blanket, wiped his flowing nosebleed and grimaced sharply.
“Sigh! Is this today’s madness?”
His violet eyes glared at me.
‘Did eyes like that even exist?’
This reality was deeply strange. I subtly averted my gaze to observe him.
Steel-like muscles peeked through the blanket’s gap.
He looked at least 190 centimeters tall.
‘Judging by his build, it’s more accurate to say he let me win than that I actually beat him.’
Soon, the man’s cold voice struck my ears.
“Trying to change your story now with some absurd act won’t help.”
Clueless, I just rolled my eyes. He warned again,
“The first application has already been sent to the court. Meaning, no matter what you do, today marks day one of our divorce reflection period.”
‘…Divorce reflection period?’
“This hellish marriage has been utterly repulsive. I hope these hundred days pass quickly.”
As he turned to leave, he shot me one last icy glare.
“I’m warning you—do not touch the children when they return in a week. I won’t let it slide anymore.”
The man left the room.
“M-Mistress… We’ll wait outside.”
The maids followed him out cautiously.
After the door closed, an eerie silence settled around me, as if the man’s words had been a lie.
‘…What is this?’
I wake up in the morning to find a strange man lying beside me, beat him up—and then maids rush in to stop me?
Absentmindedly, I glanced downward. Golden hair cascaded over my chest, shimmering in waves.
“Huh? Why do I look like this?”
I hurried to the mirror to check my reflection.
Flawless porcelain skin, deep-set eyes, long lashes framing jewel-like blue irises, plump and luscious red lips, and a nose so straight it seemed to reach the heavens.
A golden-haired beauty—just as stunning as the man I’d beaten—stared back at me in shock.
I loosened the robe’s tie slightly. The woman in the mirror moved exactly the same.
“…!”
Just a glimpse inside the robe flustered me so much I quickly retied it.
“…?”
I pinched my cheek once. The woman in the mirror did the same.
No matter how I looked at it, that woman was me.
For some unknown reason, it seemed I’d possessed someone else.
‘So that man is this woman’s husband? And they have at least two children?’
Given how he emphasized divorce, this couple must have a terrible relationship.
A wry chuckle escaped me as I pieced together the situation.
‘They’re divorcing, yet they still did it all?’
Well then, I must’ve beaten an innocent person.
“I’ll have to apologize later. But why did I end up in someone else’s body?”
Yesterday’s head injury was deemed fine at the hospital, and I felt perfectly okay.

Aside from that, I only remember reading a novel at home before falling asleep.
“Wait—does that mean I’m still dreaming?”
Naturally, last night’s dream came to mind. An involuntary smug smile spread across my face.
“Hehehehe. Even though it was a lucid dream, it felt so real… Huh?”
The Count Philip Morris from my dream and that man just now looked awfully similar…
I flung the door open. I had to find him and confirm.
But—
“M-Mistress!”
The four maids, who’d been whispering just outside, jumped in alarm and bowed deeply at ninety degrees.
Given the circumstances, speaking politely to the maids clearly wasn’t appropriate.
“Where did that man go? And who am I?”
Instantly, I felt flustered.
‘That question came out so sudden and weird! And why do I sound so haughty?’
But the damage was done—there was no taking it back.
‘I’ll have to smooth things over and find another way to figure this out…’
“The Earl has gone to his study, and you, Mistress, are the most beautiful woman in the world—Ellen Bourbon Morris, Countess Morris!”
All four maids gave the exact same reply, word for word.
“Ellen? Countess Morris? No way!”
So I’ve been transported into the novel? And as the villainess who torments the main couple?
Unable to believe it, I grabbed my head—
“Aaah! Mistress! I’m sorry!”
The maid who’d answered me collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
