“Place it over there and wait outside the door.”
The maid, hesitatingly laying down the pine board, bowed her waist and went out.
“Laila, sit here and do as I do.”
I made Laila follow me in the crosslegged position.
“Li, like this?”
But the posture didn’t come out well.
‘Well, there are people who find sitting crosslegged difficult.’
Then, I must make her do the butterfly legs.
“Now, sit like this. Straighten your back, like me.”
“Ye, yes…… like this?”
It’s very easy, but Laila couldn’t correct her posture and looked awkward.
“No, why?”
“I’m sorry, madam. I’ve never sat like this on the floor…….”
Such a simple thing is hard…… Is it because she always sits on a chair or sofa?
“Then let’s do another posture.”
I made Laila kneel.
“Now, raise your fist slightly on your thigh…… straighten your back. You can do this. Even little kids do it.”
Laila nodded her head, but her expression was still awkward and gloomy.
“Why?”
Laila hesitated and finally spoke.
“I’m sorry, madam. If I did something wrong, please forgive me.”
“……. ”
It must feel like a punishment.
“No, whatever you’re thinking, it’s not bad…… Look closely at my demonstration in that state.”
“Excuse me?”
“You need to know what you are learning, right?”
I placed one pine board in a good position to break it and stepped on it once with my foot.
With a ‘pak’ sound, the pine board neatly broke into two pieces.
It was a bit more solid than the pine boards I knew, but it was good for breaking.
Now that I’ve checked the condition of the pine board, it was time to show Laila the charm of Taekwondo.
“What you will learn from now on is Taekwondo.”
“Taekwondo?”
“This is a martial art that attacks or defends against opponents without weapons, just with bare hands and feet.”
I thoroughly explained the lexical meaning of Taekwondo and its wholesome values.
I didn’t forget to emphasize humanization through physical training and mental preparation.
‘Righteous humanization…….’
After saying it, it didn’t seem to fit Ellen’s character. But I shamelessly kept a poker face.
“It’s originally aimed at cultivating a noble attitude of selfconquest rather than subduing others, but…….”
Blah blah blah.
After several explanations, I concluded well with ‘You must learn this skill to be able to defend yourself adequately in an emergency.’
“So, I will now show you a demonstration of what techniques you will learn.”
I showed Laila the partial actions of the kicks. Laila silently sat and concentrated, watching my actions.
“Raise the front knee and front kick, then return to the front knee state right away. And for the side kick, turn your waist like this and raise the side knee.”
I showed Laila the demonstration of front kick, side kick, back kick, and spinning kick, cutting it off in the air.
Even with Ellen’s body, the partial actions of the kicks worked smoothly.
Ellen must have done quite a bit of physical training in her daily life.
After finishing the segmented kick movements, I noticed that Laila began to concentrate more.
She seemed quite interested in Taekwondo.
“Now I will show you breaking.”
I had the maid come in again and hold the pine board.
“Kyaaak! Save me! Madam!”
“……. ”
As I prepared to kick, the maid screamed and collapsed.
“Who said I was hitting you?”
I stood the maid up, but she was trembling so much that the pine board also shook.
“Can’t you hold it straight?”
I felt stifled and a frown appeared on my face.
“Yes, yes, yes!”
The maid closed her eyes and held up a wooden board.
But the moment my foot touched it, the maid lost her grip on the board. She was so scared that she couldn’t even properly grip it.
‘This way, showing a demonstration is…’
The maid began to beg frantically, noticing my bewildered expression.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry. I want to hold it well, but I’m too scared…”
‘Philip would be good to have at a time like this.’
But as he was absent, I looked out of the widely opened window.
Gardener Hayde was visible a little distance away.
“Hayde!”
When I raised my voice, his large frame shrank like a turtle hiding in its shell.
I beckoned Hayde to come over.
Hayde craned his neck. He seemed not to understand the meaning of my gesture.
“You! Aren’t you coming right now?”
I shouted angrily.
Startled, Hayde ran over and looked up at the window with a timid attitude.
“Whwhat’s the matter, Ma’am?”
“Come in.”
At the short instruction, Hayde was startled and covered his chest with both arms.
“……Yes?”
I let out an empty laugh at his very shy demeanor.
“Stop thinking silly things and just come in quickly. I have something for you to do…”
Soon, Gardener Hayde came into the practice yard, swinging his long arms and legs.
Coming in with his head bowed, he knelt down as soon as he saw Laila, looking dejected.
“What are you doing?”
“What?”
Hayde, rolling his eyes left and right, got up awkwardly.
“I need to demonstrate to Laila, but there’s no one to hold the wooden board. So, hold it like this.”
I handed the wooden board to Hayde.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
