Heide’s mouth gaped as if he was about to cry. However, as soon as he stepped outside the mansion with a basket, he started running at an incredible speed.

His long arms and legs stretched out, and it was a refreshing sight. I leaned against the window, resting my chin on my hand, and watched him for a while without hiding the satisfied smile that naturally came to me.

‘He’s good for work.’

Then I felt a gaze from the upper right and turned my head.

Someone quickly pulled their body inside from the open window diagonally above. I didn’t see who it was, but it wasn’t hard to guess.

A handkerchief I had seen earlier fluttered down from the window.

And that place was Philip’s study.

‘……Why is he doing that?’

I had a thought that seemed unlikely for a moment.

No matter how I looked at it, Philip seemed interested in this side of things. I became anxious.

‘I might lose the item to Philip if I make a wrong move? This business is more about preempting than technology?’

Now we live in one house, but soon he will become my exhusband. Since Ellen and I were never on good terms, he wasn’t someone I could share business items with.

I remembered what I said to him yesterday, that I would try my best, so trust me and bear with it a little longer.

Was that why he became interested in my work?

“Ah, I shouldn’t have promised so rashly.”

A light regret entered my mouth. But it was spilled water, and nothing could be done.

‘I need to move faster. I’ll go straight to the manufacturer tomorrow and propose cooperation.’

I started working again. I had been twiddling my thumbs for a while when a maid and two servants came in with a large oak barrel filled with water and a few items I had ordered.

“Ma’am, we have brought the items you ordered.”

“Put them over there and fill the oak barrel with water.”

The maid and servants moved quickly.

By the time they finished, I sent them a chilling warning to keep their mouths shut.

“You know what will happen if the count or anyone else finds out what you saw in here?”

The maid and servants, who had turned pale, bowed their heads.

“We saw nothing. And even if we did, we wouldn’t understand.”

“Good. Your mouths must be very heavy this time. You may go.”

When the sand in the hourglass had run out, Heide returned with a basket full of herbs and flowers.

“Pant! Pant! Ma’am. I have brought them.”

Sweat dripped from him, panting all the way to his chin.

“I pointed to the oak water barrel on one side of the workshop.

“Wash what you brought over there. It won’t do if what you picked is damaged.”

Heide, wiping the sweat with the back of his hand, obediently did as I told him.

“Ma’am, I’m done.”

He finished the job even before his heavy breathing had calmed down.

Gurgle.

Upon reporting, his belly watch rang. It hurriedly moved, seemingly hungry.

I gave Haid cake and juice.

“Take a moment to eat this.”

Haid’s eyes sparkled at the cake I offered.

“Oh, can I really eat this?”

“Yes, eat slowly.”

“Thank you! Ma’am.”

Sincerity was felt in his greeting. Apparently, he loved to eat very much.

Haid put a piece of cake in his mouth. The cake was no different from an apple.

‘Wow, he must take everything in one bite.’

Moreover, he ate deliciously. Somehow, I felt gratified watching him.

Now, I looked over the work he had done.

Has he been a gardener for a long time?

The herbs and petals he washed were clean enough to satisfy, and they were wellarranged.

His diligent hands pleased me quite a bit.

Today, his work was done. As I took out a silver coin and turned away, I saw Haid’s throat gulp once. The juice had just passed into his stomach.

‘It’s one cup, one sip.’

Suddenly, I thought he was born in the wrong world.

With that appearance and that appetite.

If he was born in a world with the internet, wouldn’t he have become a legend of eating shows?

Anyway, I gave him a silver coin as a tip.

“Good, you’ve worked hard.”

Color returned to Haid’s face at my praise.

“Thank you, ma’am.”

“Yes, go on. You know you have to be careful with your mouth?”

He rolled his eyes to the left and right and quickly bowed his head.

“Of course, I saw nothing.”

Thus, I sent Haid off, and 5 seconds might have passed.

“Oh, Master!”

Outside, it sounded like Haid ran into Philip.

I peeked through the door and saw Philip and Haid facing each other a little away from my workshop.

‘No, why is Philip loitering again?’

“You were coming out of Ellen’s workshop… You’ve sweated a lot.”

At Philip’s question, Haid awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

“Haha, I was just doing as the ma’am commanded.”

Philip’s brows furrowed.

“As commanded? I saw you running out earlier, but what did she ask you to do?”

I thought as much at Philip’s question.

‘He came snooping.’

I did well to lower the curtain.

He must be curious about my business.

Haid sneaked a glance behind him and soon met my eyes. He stopped breathing and then fawned over Philip.

“Well, that is… I cannot say.”

“What?”

“There are circumstances.”

Haid fawned on Philip, who looked at him and me with baffled eyes. Philip soon shook his head.

“I understand. I’ll go.”

Haid bowed again and went his way.

With his arms folded, Philip hesitated for a moment and then moved elsewhere.

Today, he seemed to have given up digging for information, so I closed the workshop door with relief.

And I started making another scented candle with the ingredients Haid brought.

[This is the time separator]

“The nearest workshop is on the outskirts of the territory. It’s a considerable distance, and if we go by carriage, it will be late at night.”

Mild, who had loaded all my candle samples on the fourwheeled carriage, looked worried.

“But since there are few people, bandits are said to appear.”

“Bandits?”

“They started to become rampant recently. Wouldn’t it be better to call the candle manufacturers to the mansion?”

We could start the business that way.

They said they would invest; what couldn’t we do with their coming to us? But if we took the investment and they ran away, I would have no way to catch them.

It’s better to go to the site personally to see if it’s a reliable production place.

“Are there many bandits?”

“I apologize, I couldn’t obtain that information.”

“What about taking more escorts?”

Understanding my meaning, Mild sighed.

“Then I’ll go and get permission from the master right now.”

Shortly after, Philip, dressed as a fine nobleman, and two men who looked like ordinary travelers, appeared on horseback.

“Shall we go together?”

“What?”
