In a strange but enchanting stimulus, the moment I opened my eyes, I was so surprised that I forgot to scream.
“Wasn’t I reading a novel and fell asleep?”
A stunningly handsome man, who could only be seen in a fantasy film, was holding me. Moreover, the man was anything but ordinarily graceful.
“…Is this a lucid dream?”
There was no other explanation for this situation.
I briefly rolled my eyes to examine the surroundings under the dim light of the night lamp.
Gorgeous medievalstyle furniture and a magnificent chandelier faintly appeared.
Furthermore, the bed I lay upon was fit for a noble. No matter how I looked at it, it quickly seemed unreal.
“Of course, this is a dream.”
I was relieved. The dream was so vivid that I wondered if I could even have a conversation soon.

“Um, excuse me?”
“Excuse me? You don’t even know your husband’s name?”
Gasp, the man answers! What an incredible dream!
“My, my husband? What’s his name?”
“This woman is really!”
The man stood up and left the room, replying,
“Your husband, isn’t he Count Philip Morris?”
Count Philip Morris!
It was the name of the main character Laila’s ally Marlboro in the romance fantasy novel that I read before falling asleep.
A hollow laugh escaped me.

“To dream of Count Philip Morris… Am I Ellen then?”
Ellen is his wife.
She craves her husband’s love while indulging in luxuries, and despises him without knowing that his son Marlboro is the hidden heir to the throne.
In addition, she is jealous of her kind daughterinlaw, Laila, and eventually gets divorced after making all sorts of mischief.
It would have been nice if she had stopped at that point. However, she didn’t, and as a result of tormenting Marlboro and Laila, Ellen dies a terrible death, forced to wear a heated iron mermaid dress.
“Even in a dream, I’m playing the role of the motherinlaw. It would be better if I were the heroine.”
That’s when Philip came back.
From the looks of him drying his damp hair with a towel, he must have taken a bath.
“Oh, is this eye purification?”
I felt indulged just by looking at him.

Thanks to that, my earlier tantrum subsided completely.
“Motherinlaw’s perspective is the best.”
Philip is the most handsome, strong, and graceful man in this novel.
“But which part of the novel was this situation?”
I lost myself in thought for a moment, and Philip’s fierce gaze was directed at me.
“Wife. Stop pretending. The stamp you put earlier won’t go away just because you do that.”
With those words, I realized which part of the novel this dream was.
Before the wedding of her son and his wife, Ellen slapped the bride Laila’s cheek and ruined her wedding dress.
There was a spare wedding dress, so the wedding proceeded smoothly, but the atmosphere became relatively modest.
After the newlyweds left for their honeymoon, Philip asked Ellen for a divorce. The cunning Ellen came up with a plan.

She promised to stamp the divorce papers if he spent the night with her.
In the novel, it was described as follows:
[“Just like the night of our honeymoon. Remember? Twice.”It was something Philip couldn’t do sober. So Ellen believed that he would refuse as before.
But Philip was surprisingly resolute.
“You still don’t know what’s hot.”
His decision to get rid of the wicked wife was unwavering.
“Alright. Here are the divorce papers. I will also prepare the final documents soon.”
Philip, who first stamped the divorce papers, vowed.
“I won’t even kiss you, for I don’t love you.”

Ellen beckoned Philip with a face that said she was fine with it.]
“Exactly this part.”
The scene where Count Philip Morris and the wicked Ellen spend the night.
I wanted to read more, but due to the novel’s allages rating, the description was short.
The crucial part ended with “The morning sun filled through the window, and birds sang.”
“I really can’t control myself. Was I that sorry about the morning’s end?”
To dream about it like this.
That’s when Philip embraced me again.
He was apparently intending to keep the “twice.”
It was awkward but also a dream, and it would be a waste to lose a handsome man who would remain in my life for a long time.

I too reached out both hands and willingly embraced him.
[This is the time separator]It was bright enough to feel bright without opening my eyes.
‘What time is it now? My phone…’
I groped around on the bed with my outstretched hand.
‘Ah, I don’t want to go to work.’
I was startled and opened my eyes when someone’s fingertips touched me.
A strange man’s broad back was visible.
‘…Huh? Why is there a man in the house?’
I carefully examined my situation while keeping quiet.

‘Gasp?’
A onceinalifetime major accident had occurred! Everything went dark before my eyes.
“Kyaaaaaaaaaak!”
The man, startled awake by the involuntary dolphinlike scream I let out, sat up.
‘Lord! I will kill this scum myself and go to heaven!’
Without a second’s hesitation, I kicked him first.
“You! Molester!”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
