The End Of The Special Contract Marriage (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“Are you treating me like a patient right now?”
The woman trembled violently, as if she might lunge forward at any moment.
While the butler was flustered and Audrey anxious, Aracila looked down at her with a perfectly calm expression and spoke.
“You’re acting this way because you suddenly showed up and started picking a fight.”
“But Lady Hugo provoked me first!”
“I did that because I knew who you were.”
Her face looked familiar, yet Aracila couldn’t recall who she was. Judging by how she spoke, she seemed to be from another noble family—but still, Aracila couldn’t place her.
The woman’s eyes widened in shock upon realizing Aracila didn’t recognize her. Her face flushed as she stammered.
“You… you don’t know me?”
“Why should I know you?”
“I—I—I…! I’m Nora White!”
“Oh.”
Only then did Aracila recognize her—more precisely, her family name.
Long ago, there had been a rivalry between two noble houses of similar standing over ownership of a sapphire mine.
The House of Marquis Hugo and the House of Duke White.
Until that dispute, the two families had been reasonably friendly, but the mine incident turned their relationship bitter. After the adults took offense, even their children were pulled apart and taught to treat each other as enemies.
In the end, the mine went to the House of Marquis Hugo, and the rivalry between the two families only intensified with each passing generation.
Recently, after three consecutive generations of complete dominance by the House of Marquis Hugo in every domain, the House of Duke White had been relegated to a perpetual second place.
Aracila had never cared about such petty rivalries, but she’d heard enough about them to vaguely remember the situation.
Though she hadn’t remembered the face of the rival family’s young lady.
“So you’re Miss White. Sorry, but I tend to forget people I don’t need to remember.”
“What did you say?”
Nora bit down hard on her lower lip and glared furiously at Aracila.
If looks could kill, she would have torn Aracila to shreds on the spot.
“Be honest, my lady! You knew I liked Lord Vandermir, so you deliberately approached him, didn’t you?!”
Nora jabbed her index finger accusingly toward Aracila. Of course, Aracila didn’t flinch despite the shorter young lady pushing against her.
“If not, why would a mage ever marry a knight?! Just how did you seduce him? Did you throw yourself at him and tempt him with your body? How vulgar and shameless!”
Aracila hadn’t uttered a single word, yet Nora was shouting furiously all on her own.
Audrey frowned, visibly upset by Nora’s excessive rudeness, but Aracila’s face showed not even a hint of being affected.
“Oh my, heavens! Miss White must have seduced men with her body before, hasn’t she?”
Instead, Aracila exaggeratedly covered her mouth with both hands, feigning surprise.
“W-what? What are you talking about all of a sudden…!”
“Otherwise, why would that be the first thing on your mind? People’s thoughts usually reflect their own experiences—so you must think others did the same because you yourself have done it, right?”
When her snow-white hands lowered from her face, a gently smiling mouth was revealed. Nora, crimson to her neck with fury, charged forward.
“I won’t let this go! Kyaaah!”
Nora lunged at Aracila but was instantly repelled backward, landing hard on her backside.
Aracila, having blocked Nora’s charge with a defensive spell, calmly addressed the butler.
“Butler, Miss White seems to be out of her senses—perhaps you should call a physician?”
“Yes…?”
Momentarily flustered, the butler quickly bowed and left the room.
Shortly after, he returned with Damian. Wisely, he had called the master of the estate instead of a doctor.
“Miss White, what are you still doing here? Haven’t you left yet?”
“Lord Vandermir!”
Tears streaming down her face, Nora ran toward Damian. Aracila narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched her retreating figure.
Could this woman possibly be Damian Vandermir’s secret lover?
“Don’t touch me.”
But seeing Damian frown and deliberately avoid Nora’s approach suggested otherwise.
His golden eyes filled with disdain. Nora cried out in wounded frustration.
“This is so unfair, my lord! Why did it have to be Aracila Hugo? What’s so special about that young lady anyway!”
“Well, just looking at me, I clearly am special, Miss White.”

At those words, Nora whipped her head around and glared venomously at Aracila.
“What about you is special besides your face!”
“Why exclude my face? It’s a gift from the gods.”
Aracila smiled as she tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
Indeed, bathed in sunlight streaming through intricately shaped stained glass, she looked like an angel descended from heaven.
It was an undeniable truth no one present could dispute.
“…”
And as Nora stared at Aracila, feelings of inferiority spread across her face.
After gnawing on her lips, Nora quickly turned toward Damian and pleaded desperately.
“My lord Vandermir, please reconsider! Lady Hugo will never be able to wisely support you as a wife. Don’t be fooled by her looks! Aside from her face, what quality does she even have that you could possibly see!”
Hearing this, Damian glanced briefly at Aracila before replying.
“If I had to pick one thing, it would be her confidence.”
“That’s arrogance!”
“No, it’s modesty.”
Aracila placed a hand on her chest, chin lifted high, her face radiating self-assurance and self-worth.
“Honestly, I’m so outstanding that if the continent’s newspaper advertised me as ‘Sethron’s pride,’ no one would dare object. Just look—this beauty, magical talent, and prestigious noble lineage. I have it all, don’t I?”
“Hah…!”
Nora found her unbearably shameless, yet had no retort, which only intensified her frustration.
“That’s precisely why I chose to marry you.”
By now, Aracila had recalled a recent piece of information about Miss White.
Iris had mentioned that Miss White had been chasing after Damian Vandermir for a long time.
It was obvious that this Nora White before her was that very person.
“If you’re so upset, you should have been born as me instead.”
Even when flashing a teasing smile, Aracila’s features sparkled like a fairy’s.
Damian let out a deep sigh and stepped in front of Nora, who was glaring murderously at Aracila.
“Please go home now, Miss White. Do not come here again.”
“My lord…!”
Nora’s expression turned wounded, but he remained firm.
“Albert, please escort Miss White out.”
“Yes, young master.”
Eventually driven out of the mansion, Nora warned Aracila as she left.
“Just you wait, Lady Hugo.”
“Sure. Look at my face a lot.”
Peeking out from behind Damian’s back, Aracila grinned and even gave a dainty chin-rest with her hand.
With a scream of rage, Nora White disappeared, leaving only Aracila and Damian.
“My lord, did you and Miss White have a past relationship?”
“Are you mad? She’s the only one acting like that on her own.”
Damian denied it vehemently, his sincerity obvious even without further questioning.
“I just wanted to make sure.”
“Absolutely not. Don’t entertain such unnecessary suspicions. Follow me.”
They moved to Damian’s study. Soon, a servant brought tea and dessert.
“The House of Duke Vandermir is in an uproar. They say they’ll come to the capital immediately.”
“Oh, you’re not in the capital right now?”
“Our family usually stays in the duchy unless something urgent comes up.”
Unlike most nobles who resided in the capital and only visited their estates when necessary, the House of Duke Vandermir primarily lived in their southern duchy.
Given that their territory rivaled the capital in size and their influence was firmly established, there was little reason to stay in the capital.
“But why do you live in the capital, my lord? Is it because of the knights’ order?”
“That’s part of it—and also because I’m the family’s designated heir.”
His calm, matter-of-fact reply made Aracila pause. She’d suspected it before—this man seemed somehow estranged within his own family.
‘Maybe it’s not right to pry into such things.’

With that consideration in mind, she smoothly changed the topic.
“If they’re coming to the capital now, I should prepare to greet them.”
Aracila lifted her eyes after taking a sip of tea.
Beneath long, lush lashes, her glass-like eyes gazed at Damian.
“When will your family arrive?”
“At the earliest, the day after tomorrow.”
“Come to my house first tomorrow.”
It felt odd—announcing their engagement first and only then introducing him to the family—but Damian nodded, accepting that there was no other way.
“Are there any particular things I should be careful about or prepare when visiting the marquis’s house?”
“Hmm.”
Aracila touched her cheek, pondered thoughtfully for a moment, then smiled brightly.
“Are you prepared to take home their precious second daughter?”
[This is the timeline separator]‘Lord Vandermir will come to greet us tomorrow.’
Aracila’s announcement during dinner the previous night sent the already shaken House of Marquis Hugo into further chaos after the newspaper article.
While the marquis and marchioness fumed about why they were only hearing this now, Adrian humbly prepared to receive his elder sister’s fiancé.
“Make me look as charismatic and impressive as possible!”
“Yes, young master.”
The servant suppressed a smile while adjusting Adrian’s formal uniform collar.
The early-teen boy had slicked his hair back with pomade and was meticulously dressing up—determined to appear more stately and reliable than today’s guest.
‘I’ll show the dignity of the Hugo heir and prevent him from taking my sister away!’
Holding onto this lofty dream, Adrian waited with his family for Damian’s arrival.
Soon, a carriage bearing the Red Falcon emblem rolled into the marquis’s estate. Adrian widened his eyes, watching intently as the man stepped down.
‘…Huh!’
Adrian’s eyes shot open in shock at the man’s astonishingly noble and beautiful face.
Until now, he had firmly believed his father was the handsomest man in the world, followed closely by himself—but one look at Damian shattered that belief.
‘No! Maybe he’s actually short like a dwarf…!’
But as Damian drew closer, he cruelly crushed Adrian’s hope.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Marquis Hugo—and Marchioness.”
“Welcome, my lord.”
He was even taller than Adrian’s father. Adrian stood stunned.
Until now, his father had also been the tallest man he’d ever seen.
‘N-no…! Maybe he’s weak enough that he can’t protect my sister!’
Still clinging to hope, Adrian heard his elder sister’s shocking words.
“They say you’re the Empire’s youngest Sword Master—truly, your presence commands respect.”
“You flatter me, my lady.”
Adrian’s favorite lesson during his heir training was swordsmanship.
He preferred swinging a sword outside to sitting at a desk studying. Of course, since his sister was a mage, he’d never dared voice this preference openly.
Anyway, he knew exactly how extraordinary a Sword Master was—one who surpassed even his father in strength.
“This is my younger brother, Adrian.”
Aracila nudged her brother, who stood utterly dazed.
“Pleased to meet you, Master.”
“Adrian, you should greet his lordship too.”
Even as his sister tapped his back, Adrian couldn’t utter a word.
The boy, head bowed deeply without moving, suddenly squeezed his eyes shut and shouted.
“I oppose this marriage!”
Adrian spread his arms wide, blocking Aracila.
“Don’t take our sister away!”
As the Hugo family stared at Adrian in astonishment, Damian, after observing the small boy for a moment, bent down and spoke seriously.
“Even if a sword is held to my throat, I will marry your sister. Don’t waste your precious life pointlessly—give up, Master. Lady Hugo is coming with me.”

“…Huh… sniff… sob…”
Up close, Damian was certainly handsome—but his cold, steely gaze was terrifying.
Overwhelmed by fear and despair, Adrian burst into tears and ran to his mother.
Against the backdrop of quiet weeping, Aracila’s and Damian’s eyes met.
“…Didn’t I tell you to come prepared?”
“I never asked an eleven-year-old to show that kind of resolve.”
