Though the words were clearly meant for the Emperor, it was his consort who received the warning.

Titié stiffened for a moment before being pulled into Demios’s arms.

“Your Majesty, please go somewhere else.”

Titié clung to the Emperor as if afraid of an argument.

Demios took a steadying breath. Before turning away, he issued a warning to Sophia.

“You’d do well to remember this one thing, Empress: everyone entangled with the Duke meets only ruin.”

The mocking sneer he left behind was directed at Roxan.

Roxan’s eyes froze coldly. The Emperor grinned, baring his teeth as if pleased by that reaction.

The Emperor and his consort exited the balcony.

Silence returned to the surroundings. Roxan stared at the closed door for a long while.

The grand victory celebration ended after a week.

At the same time, winter arrived in the Empire.

Winter in the Empire begins with snow.

What had started as a few scattered flakes now blanketed the rooftops and turned the Imperial Palace pure white.

Sophia, too, had safely concluded the grand banquet and could now enjoy a few weeks of rest.
