Maris General Hospital was in an uproar due to the sudden visit of an esteemed guest. In contrast, the hospital room where that guest stayed remained silent, thick with suffocating tension.

“Her fainting appears to have resulted from oxygen deprivation. Additionally, she shows signs of dehydration and malnutrition, likely because she hasn’t eaten properly for some time.”

The Hospital Director, delivering his diagnosis, pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat streaming down his forehead. Throughout the examination, he had needed to focus all his attention as if performing surgery—because the Grand Duke was watching him closely from the side with an intense gaze.

“Fortunately, her life is not in serious danger. She simply needs rest to regain her strength.”

“Thank you for your efforts. You may leave now.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

At Kaeron’s words, the Hospital Director bowed deeply, his expression filled with nervous deference. He, too, had been urgently summoned for the unexpected hospitalization of the Grand Duchess. Now that the examination had concluded safely, he stepped out of the room with visible relief on his face.

Gregory, who had been watching from the side, also visibly relaxed his stiff expression. He had just rescued the kidnapped Grand Duchess and swiftly brought her unconscious form to the nearest hospital.

Only after confirming the Grand Duchess was safe could he finally breathe easier. Yet soon, his concerned gaze shifted toward the Grand Duke, who was fixated solely on the Grand Duchess.

“Your Grace, since Her Grace appears unharmed, might you consider resting even briefly? I’ll summon a maid to stay and guard the room.”

“No. I’ll stay. Everyone else, leave.”

Though he urged rest upon the Grand Duke—who hadn’t slept properly since the Grand Duchess’s disappearance—the Duke simply shook his head, as if to say no.

“Understood. I’ll await outside the room.”

Ultimately, obeying the Grand Duke’s order, Gregory left the room with a heavy expression. Now alone inside, Kaeron approached the bedside and sat down in the chair beside it.

His tender gaze settled upon the woman lying there, her eyes tightly shut. Her pale skin, drained of color, and delicate features together gave her the appearance of a porcelain doll.
