By now, Aidel found herself cradled in the arms of a masked man. He must have seized her in the brief moment her voice faltered. Although she struggled fiercely, the man—who had galloped over on horseback to catch her as she fell—refused to release her, holding her tightly against his chest.

With the Fairy Forest so close at hand, the realization that her pursuers had finally caught up to her filled Aidel’s face with despair.

She had been just a few steps away… Tears streaming down her face, Aidel frantically pushed at the man, but his body—solid as a mountain—didn’t budge an inch.

Meanwhile, the leader of the group trailing behind stared with a puzzled expression at the masked man holding the Grand Duchess. Judging by his black mask, he appeared to be one of their own men—but something about him felt strangely unfamiliar.
