Sharti stood frozen, arms brimming with food, staring blankly at Ren.

Each time Ren’s longsword clashed with Karun’s greatsword, it trembled and was pushed back. When Ren stubbornly held his ground against Karun’s relentless assault, the mercenaries erupted in admiration and cheers. The heat radiating from Ren and Karun quickly turned the surroundings boisterous.

‘…He didn’t need to learn swordsmanship at all.’

Only Sharti, overwhelmed by conflicted feelings, lowered her gaze.

Every time Ren swung his blade, it stung her chest as if being cut. Each time the sharp edge sliced through the air, a chilling aura seemed to pierce straight into her.

‘It’s just that it’s bringing back memories I shouldn’t have.’

Inside that pitch-black cave, the man standing precariously with a sword in hand had reeked intensely of blood and the stench of damp earth. He’d been so utterly disheveled that it was impossible to tell whose blood covered him.

Sharti could never forget those emerald eyes—flickering with hostility and murderous intent even as he gasped for breath.

‘No! This is clearly different from back then!’

Sharti shook her head vigorously.

The man who had swung his sword at her in that cave was someone who had vanished along with Ren’s memories.

‘Ren would never raise a blade against me.’

Though it wasn’t absolute faith, the sincerity and demeanor Ren had consistently shown made it impossible to equate him with that man.

Ren had continually demonstrated worry, care, and consideration for her. There had been no falsehood in those gestures, and Sharti had gradually come to accept Ren’s gentle protection as something natural.

‘Even if I can’t trust everything, I can trust the time I’ve spent with Ren.’
