Sure enough, his right hand was wrapped in bandages.

What was strange was that the bandages focused not on the back of his hand, but the palm.

Sharti looked up at Ren with suspicious eyes.

“Give me your hand.”

Sharti pointed to his hand, but Ren only held out the bowl.

“You didn’t even eat dinner before sleeping—it’d be good to eat something.”

Ren, with a calm expression, urged her gently with his deep, dark eyes.

Since he’d gone through so much trouble to gather them, Sharti couldn’t very well refuse, so she picked up a fruit.

It had been washed so thoroughly that the green fruit looked plump and tempting.

“This is the first time I’ve eaten one while it’s still perfectly intact.”

For Sharti, these fruits were only ever lucky finds dropped by birds onto the ground.

And even then, she’d never seen one so perfectly ripe and round before.

Sharti glanced at him briefly before popping it into her mouth.

“Sweet!”

Sharti’s eyes sparkled as she savored the spreading sweetness of the fruit.
