Despite her apologies, the fact that he initially used Sharletti’s vulnerability to threaten her remained true.

“I see. It’s understandable to distrust me.”

He accepted it.

But it seemed his heart still felt hurt, even if his mind understood.

Trying to maintain composure, his expression faltered with the unspoken hurt.

His throat bobbed significantly.

“Nothing happened. If you’re worried about the kid, go meet him yourself. You won’t believe me anyway.”

He murmured, apparently hurt by his own words.

Sharletti, seeing his trembling eyelashes, quickly shook her head.

She was about to write an extensive excuse on his palm but hesitated.

‘No, it’s true. I did suspect.’

Sharletti could have handled him even if he had been threatening.

She was the only one who had seen his face, the one who had treated and hidden him. She didn’t want Tein involved in complicated matters.

‘Inadvertently, I’ve always been wary of him as a dangerous person.’

She knew nothing about him, harboring prejudices and suspicions simply because he was a stranger.

Even if it was right to be cautious, it had hurt him, especially after he waited for her return all day.

“I’m sorry.”

His large palm twitched.

“I’m sorry for not trusting you. For hurting your feelings, truly.”

“…”

There was no response.

Sharletti glanced at him.

He still looked dejected.

Clearly, she had wounded him deeply.

‘What should I do?’

Sharletti didn’t know how to ease his hurt feelings. She was never good at communicating with others.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

He avoided her gaze, turned abruptly, and sat down.

He knew it was childish, but he didn’t want her to see how quickly he was appeased by her apology.

He tried to manage his expression, but the more he replayed her apology in his mind, the more his mouth involuntarily softened.

His childish resentment melted away at her understanding and soothing words, not because he was happy about the apology itself.

But he didn’t want to involve Sharletti in his erratic emotions.

For now, he took time to calm himself.

‘Seems like he’s sulking?’

But Sharletti, unaware of his inner turmoil, saw his hunched, large back as representing his sulking mood.
Sharletti, sensing the man’s sullen back, crouched beside him and wrote a note.

“I’m sorry. Instead, I’ll get you whatever you want from the village tomorrow. Is there anything you need besides clothes?”

The man glanced at the note and then subtly turned to Sharletti.

“If there’s something I need, will you get it for me?”

It seems so.

Sharletti nodded emphatically, hiding her tight financial situation.

“When I met the kid, it felt strange.”

From a close distance, he turned to face Sharletti.

“The kid introduced himself with his name.”

“…”

“I don’t have one, but a 7-year-old kid confidently told me his. Unlike me.”

His clear turquoise eyes shimmered seriously.

“I want one too. My name.”

His eyes twinkled with hope.

On a moonlit night, Sharletti trudged up the mountain alone.

[“I wish you would give me a name.”]

Obviously, a name isn’t something that can be easily created.

He didn’t seem to expect a name right away, not rushing her.

He just seemed grateful that Sharletti didn’t refuse.

‘What should I name him? A man’s name at that.’

She had no talent for naming.

She even used just the initial letter for her current alias.

‘Sigh.’

Exhaling deeply, Sharletti carefully dug up the ground. Her hands were diligently harvesting herbs, despite her preoccupied mind.

‘This will be the name he uses while his memory doesn’t return.’

She regretted creating this task for herself.

She carefully placed the undamaged herbs in the basket.

‘Should I name him after a herb? Since he was found poisoned, maybe something related to antidotes?’

…He probably wouldn’t like it.

Sharletti sarcastically laughed at her own idea.

‘I wish I could give him a name that he would like.’

The man had left it entirely up to her to decide.

The general request made Sharletti feel perplexed.

She would have preferred if he had asked for more meat or better clothes.

‘I can’t think of any suitable words.’

Sharletti admitted her lack of naming skills.

‘Time to go back.’

With her basket heavily loaded, Sharletti stood up, feeling a bit stiff.

Sharletti frowned reflexively as her limp worsened.

‘Not enough water left for a bath tonight.’

Rustle, rustle…

Then, she heard an unnatural sound from behind.

“…”

Sharletti clutched a pouch of paralysis herbs.

‘It’s not an animal’s cry. Not a predator.’

As she showed a defensive posture, the sound stopped, making it even more creepy.

Suddenly, with a fluttering noise, birds flew out of a nearby tree.

‘Was it just the birds?’

Still on edge, Sharletti cautiously retreated from the spot.

Feeling a creepy gaze twice made her shiver.

Quickening her pace, Sharletti finally relaxed upon seeing the light from the log cabin.

As soon as she opened the door, the man immediately snatched the basket.

“Have you always been out this long gathering herbs?”

Sharletti shifted the topic to avoid showing her unease.

“Any words coming to mind? Not many, I guess.”

“It doesn’t have to be clear. Even just letters.”

Hmm. Noticing Sharletti’s struggle with naming, he thoughtfully recalled.

He shrugged lightly.

“Le… gr? A blurry word that keeps coming to mind, but that’s all.”

Sharletti stared at the note with the letters she had written.
“‘Le, gr? Leg? Lex? No, this is a bit, um….”

Sharletti tried combining the letters in various ways.

Since the man had an appearance that Tein mistook for a bear, she hoped his name would be gentle.

“How about ‘Len’?”

“Len?”

Hearing the man pronounce it, Sharletti felt certain.

She felt proud to have found a name that suited him.

“Is naming difficult?”

Meanwhile, the man looked at Sharletti with a somewhat doubtful gaze.

Was he dissatisfied because the name had only one syllable? Sharletti timidly gauged his reaction.

“You don’t like it because it’s only one syllable like my name?”

“I like it.”

His change of attitude was swift.

The man immediately muttered the name she had given him, focusing as if to memorize it.

Suddenly, he cleared his throat.

“My name is Len.”

The man with a serious face turned to Sharletti.

“Can I ask for your name now?”
