In his hand were a needle and thread, and the clothes he had been wearing. It seemed he had torn his clothes again while waiting for her.

Sharati’s legs gave way, and she crouched in front of the wardrobe.

‘I was so startled.’

Yet, Sharati thought to herself.

Why was she surprised? If he left, it would reduce her burden and ease her mind.

She had been wary one moment and fluttering with anticipation the next.

‘No, it’s not that. Even if he’s going to leave, I wanted to feed him first.’

Sharati pushed away the random thoughts and gazed up at the sleeping man.

Despite sometimes frowning in his sleep, his sleeping habits were gentle. The man, peacefully asleep, bore no trace of the dangerous impression he first gave.

‘Look.’

That’s why I didn’t want to bring them here.

Sharati grimaced, a bitter smile on her lips.

It was about responsibility, but in truth, it was loneliness.

An orphan abandoned by her blood, with a face no one could see, in an empty house.

She had always been alone.

[Sharati, dear. Will you live with us?]

She had refused Berena, not wanting to rely on her anymore, but also because it felt awkward and shabby to be within the strong fence of a family.

And so, she remained alone.

…until she met the man who had lost his memory.

Sharati reached out and gently grasped a piece of his clothing.

Looking at the sleeping man, Sharati’s lips twitched.

‘I’m sorry.’

For being late. And for waiting…

“Thank you.”

She whispered just audibly enough to be heard, yet Sharati couldn’t leave the wardrobe for a long time.

Click, click. Awakened by the small sounds, the man opened his eyes.

Cramped in the wardrobe, his large body had fallen asleep, and he moved his stiff muscles, frowning reflexively.

The wardrobe door was open.

“……!”

He hurriedly ran out of the bedroom.

Turning his head towards the light, he saw a figure cooking in the kitchen.

His previously gloomy teal eyes brightened.

Rattle. Spotting the familiar robe, his shoulders heaved greatly.

His dry lips moved, but he couldn’t bring himself to call out to her, standing still.

Just then, Sharati, who was inserting a magstone into the table lamp, noticed him.

‘Come and sit.’

Her gesture, softly illuminated by the gentle light, drew him hypnotically to the table where he sat.

“……Why…….”
Due to just having woken up, the man’s voice came out subdued. He furrowed his eyebrows, clearing his throat.

“Drink some water first.”

Sharati brought out some cool water and handed it to the man.

He quickly emptied the glass.

After draining the glass three times, the man put it down and looked at Sharati with a furrowed brow.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Sharati tilted her head at his reproachful tone.

‘Shouldn’t the first question be why I was so late?’

Realizing what he had said, he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

“I mean, that is to say…….”

Sharati, seeing the man who seemed still groggy from sleep, turned away again.

Misunderstanding her actions, the man abruptly stood up.

“I waited.”

“…….”

“But since you didn’t come, I thought, that is to say……”

Sharati placed a bowl in front of him, cutting off his rambling.

It was a stew filled with meat chunks the size of fingernails.

“…….”

The familiar aroma of herbs wafted from the dish, and the man couldn’t take his eyes off it.

Gulp. His Adam’s apple moved noticeably.

Sharati, feeling apologetic, pushed a note towards him.

“I should have left some food for you, I’m sorry. It was all so rushed.”

“Why only for me?”

The man pointed out that there was nothing on the opposite seat for Sharati.

Sharati quickly brought her own plate.

However, the man still looked dissatisfied.

“It’s quite different, isn’t it?”

Unlike his plate, which was heaped with meat, Sharati’s stew only had carrots as solids.

Sharati ignored his persistent gaze and sat down.

“I don’t like meat.”

“I don’t want it either.”

He stubbornly pushed his plate away and crossed his arms.

Sharati frowned, thinking it was a childish complaint like Tein’s.

It was the meat she had embarrassingly accepted to feed him. She didn’t want to argue and upset him.

Sighing, Sharati pressed hard on a new note.

“Eat what you’re given if you’re a patient.”

His lips pressed together tightly.

Sharati looked askance at the man’s strange stubbornness.

“You need to eat to recover quickly.”

“Who are you to say that?”

The man muttered and chuckled softly.

“I’ll show you around outside once your wounds heal.”

“We shouldn’t go out, should we?”

“The soldiers will be leaving the village soon. As long as we’re careful around the villagers, there won’t be any problem going out.”

His expression wavered at the mention of going out.

Sharati pushed the bowl back towards him.

“The mountain trails here are rough, I’ll guide you on the paths I take. That way, you can wander around the mountain without worrying about people’s eyes.”

“Then can I follow you?”

“……?”

“It’s risky to go alone.”

The man finished awkwardly, and Sharati nodded, feeling pity for him.

His face immediately brightened.

“So, eat.”

Sharati scooped a piece of meat with her spoon and held it out to him.

Just when she thought he would insist on eating himself, he readily accepted the food.

“……!”

Sharati was surprised, expecting him to say he’d eat by himself.

Seeing her reaction, the man shamelessly opened his mouth again.

Hesitantly feeding him another bite, Sharati saw him trying to hold back a laugh and immediately put down the spoon.

‘He was teasing me!’

As Sharati pouted softly, the man finally laughed aloud.

“I ate because you offered.”

He shrugged nonchalantly and started eating the stew himself.

Seeing him fill his hungry stomach, Sharati’s mood to argue faded.

She watched him for a moment, then began her meal as well.

‘There’s plenty, so no worries about tomorrow’s meals.’

Even without meat chunks, the herb-infused stew was tasty enough.

Although slightly bitter due to the herbs and lacking in seasoning, the man’s bowl was quickly empty.

‘Should I give you more?’
Tapping the table, the man declined.

“I’ll get it myself.”

He stood up and served himself another bowl of stew.

This time, the only solid ingredient was potatoes.

“Eating a balanced diet should help with recovery.”

When he discovers she has gone, he risks everything to pursue her on land, enduring agonizing pain to transform his tail into human legs…

One-line summary: Male lead chases female lead. The male lead’s love is a bit sick, an invincible love brain.

Synopsis

During a voyage at sea, Jiang Yang accidentally captures a merman.

Servant: I heard that mermen are fierce and brutal.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman obediently rubbing her palm like a puppy: “You call this fierce and brutal?”

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”

With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.

Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?

He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
