Tein nodded without any doubt and then looked at the man’s clothes, smiling brightly.

“That’s why the teacher lent the patient sir her pajamas!”

Pajamas? Whose?

He followed Tein’s gaze to his own attire.

He had thought the clothes were just small when the buttons tore and the front opened. He never thought they were women’s, let alone Sharti’s pajamas.

The man rubbed his throbbing forehead.

“That’s why I wasn’t scared!”

Though he looked big and scary, wearing Sharti’s clothes seemed to have lessened his fears.

“……Right, well.”

He felt comforted, seeing the child’s innocence even in a funny situation.

“What’s that?”

Tein clutched a bundle tightly, holding it more preciously than the bag on his back.

“Ah! It’s cookies made by Birena sister.”

The excited little hand placed the bundle in front of him, revealing the contents.

“…These are cookies?”

“Yes!”

His expression turned dubious.

Inside the bundle wrapped in cloth were ten pieces of burnt-looking cookies.

“Grandma, no, Birena sister said to give them to the teacher.”

“…Did your sister perhaps…”

He trailed off, closing his mouth.

The cookies looked oddly shaped, as if a child had made them from mud.

Either she couldn’t cook, or she disliked Sharti. It was one of the two.

“It’s a cookie with chocolate powder. I helped make them.”

“I see.”

Apparently, those tiny hands had shaped them without molds.

As he stared silently at the cookie, Tein picked one and offered it to the man.

The cookie, made with cheap chocolate powder, was dark but had a faint smell.

“Is it for your teacher, but you’re giving it to me?”

“It’s okay. That one is for the patient sir.”

“Oh, I see.”

One out of ten. He seemed quite firm about not being able to give more.

The man immediately ate the cookie. It was a bite-size.

Crunch. Crunch.

“Is it delicious?”

Tein’s eyes sparkled, trusting his sister’s cooking skills.

The man chewed the cookie deliberately, trying to savor it.
Regrettably, the cookie didn’t suit the man’s taste. Specifically, the cheap quality of the cookie’s ingredients was so evident that it was distressing.

“The teacher loves chocolate cookies the most.”

The man quickly swallowed the cookie. The bitter taste tickled his throat.

“Tasty.”

“Hehe.”

Tein beamed with joy, proud that his sister’s cooking skills were acknowledged. Yet, he cautiously pushed the bundle away, as if worried the man would ask for more cookies.

He was indeed Sharti’s disciple.

“Tell me more.”

Talking with Tein reminded him of Sharti.

Specifically, he grew curious about the existence in his newly formed first memory, about whom he knew nothing.

“For instance… the name.”

“I’m Tein! I’m 7 years old!”

Tein introduced himself promptly. The man, who had slipped up, quickly regained his composure.

“Right. What about your teacher?”

Tein blinked and closed his mouth when the man added,

“It would be inconvenient not to know each other’s names since we’ll be living together.”

“I call the teacher ‘teacher.’ There’s no problem at all. There’s only one teacher in the village.”

The clever child hit the nail on the head. He had a way of leaving one speechless, just like Sharti.

The man didn’t give up.

“That can’t be true.”

“It is.”

Tein asserted firmly, as if to say it was the truth. The man chuckled and pointed at Tein.

“There’s another one. A doctor.”

Tein’s eyes widened.

“The one who treated me, worried about me, shared food, and talked to me while I was asleep was a doctor.”

“That, that is…”

I’m the one…

The little head hung low as he trailed off.

“But I’m not a doctor. I’m inexperienced, and I’m 7 years old.”

“Is that so?”

“Of course, the teacher praised me as a promising future doctor.”

“I see.”

The man’s large hand enveloped Tein’s head.

His soft cheeks blushed.

“Ha, but to become a doctor, I need to attend an academy. And earn a diploma. And get a license. I… can’t become a doctor.”

“Did your teacher say that?”

Tein quickly shook his head.

Sharti was a doctor without a license.

Academies were places only nobles could attend. Sharti and Tein, being commoners and without money, couldn’t even dream of it.

“I want to be a doctor who earns a lot of money. For that, I need a license. So…”

“You will be.”

The man’s gaze softened as he ruffled Tein’s hair.

“Even with my broken head, I can see you’re smart and will be a great doctor.”

“……!”

“Really.”

Tein slowly lifted his head.

“I promised your teacher, so I can’t lie.”

The child’s eyes, firmly shut, sparkled with hope and joy.

The sensation of his pure innocence tickled the man, and he withdrew his hand.

Tein, fidgeting with his fingers, stood up and placed his hand on the man’s forearm. The small hand patted his firm skin.

“The patient sir is kind and a good patient.”

“Is that so?”

“The patient sir’s body is as big as a bear, but there’s nothing in his head. But that’s okay. The patient sir speaks well, so he’ll learn quickly. You can regain your memory soon.”

Was that a compliment? Or consolation?

Faced with Tein’s genuinely innocent smile, the man was speechless.

‘It sounds about right, but…’

Although it was somewhat ambiguous, it was a significant difference.

‘Well, it means he’s opened up to me.’

He certainly left a good impression.

Tein was the perfect ally to win over Sharti. An opportunity to coax information from Tein.

But suddenly, Tein stood up.

“I’ll go study and come back! I have to fix the patient sir’s head!”

“……What?”
“I need to read more books. And I need to help the teacher to gain experience! As the patient sir’s doctor, I will definitely heal your head.”

Tein clenched his fist with a determined face, showing a burning enthusiasm as if a button had been pressed.

Before the man could say anything, Tein turned and trotted towards the table. Placing the bundle on the table, Tein looked back at the man.

“The cookies are for the teacher. You mustn’t eat them.”

“…….”

“I’ll be going now! Patient sir!”

Tein bowed politely, folding at the waist, and then left, closing the door behind him.

“…….”

The house became quiet once again.

The man left alone twisted his lips.

“……Thanks to two doctors, a full recovery doesn’t seem far off.”

It was something to be grateful for, yet he couldn’t understand why he felt so uneasy.

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
