Someone was pounding on the door of the log house from outside.

“Could it be…?”

My heart had been rattling since morning.

Sharty hurried out of the room. She happened to meet eyes with a man standing outside the room.

“It’s the soldiers.”

His tired, sharp eyes pointed towards the door. Fortunately, all the windows were covered with curtains. It seemed he had drawn them earlier.

Sharty swallowed hard.

“They’ll find us anyway if they search the house.”

There was nowhere to hide in this old log house, and getting caught while hiding would leave no room for excuses.

The man chose his words with a grave face.

“If they threaten us…”

Sharty, cutting him off by wildly waving her hand, took him to the bedroom.

There was no time to argue with him. The knocking on the door from outside was getting faster and more intense.

‘You don’t know if it’s a search! Just hide in my bedroom for now!’

The man looked perplexed, but Sharty didn’t listen and firmly raised her index finger.

‘Don’t make a sound!’

Sharty then closed the bedroom door.

Whew. Sharty moved with a tense face.

‘Why did they come here this morning?’

Was it the last day of the search? Or the beginning of today’s search.

Bang bang bang! Before they could break in, Sharty opened the door.

“Ah, Sha! Fortunately, you’re home!”

It wasn’t just the soldiers who had come to the log house. Mrs. Petricia, who ran an inn in the village, was also there.

But this was no relief.

Petricia, a villager, was famous for loving gossip and being loose-lipped.

It was convenient to have a conversation at times like this. It could hide the fear in her voice from seeing the soldiers, the discomfort, and the anxiety.

“That’s the thing. These soldiers are looking for a doctor. They went up the mountain last night for a search and ran into the dangerous criminal they were looking for, you know? There were many injured. They said you could take a look. I told them you’re the best doctor in our village.”

“……?”

They had encountered the dangerous criminal they were looking for.

‘Did they meet a dangerous criminal yesterday, not just a bear?’

It was fortunate that she was wearing a hood. Otherwise, her face would have shown all her doubts and suspicions.

“How long do I have to wait?”

Then the tall soldier who had followed Petricia pressed her from behind.

He was a soldier in his 30s.

“Yes, yes. Come on, Sha. Let’s go quickly. They only managed to finish the search and come down to the village at dawn.”

There was a reason why the soldiers looked so dirty.

Sharty, barely freeing her arm from the urging Petricia, hastily wrote a note.

Sharty asked for a moment and closed the door.

‘I just need to grab my travel bag.’

There was no need to pack anything else. Instead, Sharty left a note under the bedroom door.

With anxiety, Sharty left the log house, surrounded by soldiers, with Petricia.

Her hands, hidden under her robe, trembled all the way down the mountain.

‘Stay calm. They haven’t touched me. They’re not the Imperial Army I saw five years ago. They’re just border soldiers. They won’t know me.’
Just like five years ago, they came looking for her, but with a different purpose. The Imperial Army soldiers had come seeking the princess of Krianet, while the border soldiers were searching for a doctor.

They sought her not to kill, but for assistance.

“Sha, it’s okay. I’ve already informed them about your peculiarities.”

Petricia, looking sympathetically at the frozen Sharty, whispered.

“They won’t harm Sha, as I’ve told them she has a big scar on her face and is congenitally mute.”

Sharty nodded slightly.

Of course, there was no such scar on her face. Nor was she congenitally mute.

It was a lie Bireta and Sharty had agreed upon long ago.

“But can’t the doctor fix the scar on her face?”

One of the soldiers eyed Sharty suspiciously. Petricia laughed heartily and waved her hand dismissively.

“It’s a birthmark, so it’s difficult to treat. You soldiers know, right? If such things could be cured, why would she hide in a mountain village? She’d be living large in the capital.”

“Well, that’s true but…”

Though Petricia interjected, the soldier’s gaze remained unkind. There was an air of skepticism about her abilities.

It was understandable, given that their comrades were injured.

“Oh, our Sha is so skilled. Hohoho, she’s a doctor coveted by other villages.”

Sharty, flustered, tried to stop Petricia’s overzealous praise. While she appreciated being valued, she didn’t want the soldiers to know even the slightest detail about her.

The soldiers hid their dubious expressions at Petricia’s bragging.

‘Are they just going to watch for now?’

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
