Instead of straining her voice, Sharati wrote letters on the back of the man’s hand with her fingertips.

“I won’t harm you.”

She wrote reassuringly on his skin.

After continuing her silent communication for a while, Sharati noticed the grip on her hand loosening.

“……ha, ah…….”

The man’s strained breaths became more regular. Sharati reached out with her other hand, wiping the sweat from his forehead with her sleeve.

Every time her hand touched him, his eyebrows twitched, but the pained expression no longer showed.

“……Phew.”

It seemed he was calming down.

Sharati slowly stood from the bed. As she walked away, she thought about the herb mixture she had used on the man.

“What herbs should I use for psychological treatment?”

Sharati was a novice in psychological care.

Leaving him like this wasn’t an option, as he might continue to show these seizure-like symptoms.

“Maybe I should look for more medical books in the village.”

Of course, she would have to wait until the man’s condition improved a bit more.

“He has a fever, so I should at least put a wet cloth on his forehead….”

As she turned to fetch a bucket, Sharati stopped dead in her tracks.

The man she had been tending to was now sitting up unsteadily on the bed.

“……phew, ugh…….”

He held his head, as if in pain, taking several deep breaths.

A presence not felt in his unconscious state now emanated from him.

Gulp. Instinctively, Sharati stepped back.

“……Where is this…….”

His rough voice made Sharati shiver. His voice, deep and slurred, resembled the one she heard two days ago.

The man, trying to clear his blurry vision, turned his head and locked eyes with Sharati.

“……!”

“……Who are you…….”

His frowning turquoise eyes looked confusedly at her.

“What is this place, ugh…….”

Gritting his teeth, he tried to stand up, pausing as he noticed the bandages wrapped around his body.

Meanwhile, Sharati glanced at the man’s sword, leaning against the cave wall.

‘Will he misunderstand and threaten me with the sword like last time?’
Sharati’s mind raced fiercely.

The long staff fixed to the wall and his sword.

Who would reach for a weapon first? Sharati’s thoughts weren’t exactly optimistic.

“……Answer me. Who are you…….”

The menacing growl through his teeth made Sharati’s shoulders tense.

Sharati barely shook her head.

Unfortunately, to the man, Sharati, with her face hidden under a robe hood and avoiding an answer, only looked suspicious.

‘How can I explain?’

Approaching him was frightening, and grabbing a weapon first would likely increase the chance of a misunderstanding.

“……Damn, my head…….”

The man still seemed disoriented.

Quietly, Sharati reached into her robe’s pocket.

‘I have no choice.’

Her hand found the small pouches she had prepared earlier with Tein.

“…….”

With trembling legs, Sharati moved slowly towards the bed.

When the man belatedly noticed the reduced distance and looked up, Sharati didn’t hesitate and threw one of the small pouches.

Pop! The loosely tied opening of the pouch opened, scattering the finely ground powder in front of the man.

“Wha, at….!”

He tried to move back, but it was too late in the confined space of the cave, especially with his injured body.

“……Cough, cough…! Urgh…….”

The man coughed dryly, glaring at Sharati as if betrayed.

“……Thi.”

But only for a moment, his eyelids began to droop slowly.

Thump. The man’s head and arms, which were holding his head, fell powerlessly.

The effectiveness of the sedative herb powder was immediate.

“……Uh…….”

The man’s large upper body swayed slightly before collapsing backward.

As he struggled to maintain consciousness, he fixed his gaze on Sharati and muttered incoherently.

“……Why…. am I, why, me…….”

His eyes blurred, and soon steady breathing filled the room again.

Only after the man’s tense muscles relaxed did Sharati dare approach him, waving her hand in front of him.

Luckily, he was sleeping peacefully.

‘Thank goodness. He’s asleep.’

Sharati’s legs gave way, and she couldn’t stand up right away. She pressed firmly near her racing heart.

It was fortunate she had prepared the sedative herbs with Tein.

‘He’ll need to be put to sleep for a while.’

Sharati realized again the man’s extraordinary recovery rate.

He’ll need a generous dose of sedatives until he fully recovers.

‘Even a patient’s robust body can be a problem.’

The image of the man’s turquoise eyes haunted her, making her heart race. Sharati sighed heavily.

Yet, as a doctor, she left a written message on the back of the man’s hand.

‘Please understand, this is for our safety.’

It might not reach him, but for her, it was the best she could do.

After a tense five days, as the sense of crisis began to ease, Sharati went down to the village early in the morning and returned to her old log house around lunchtime. Once again, she came back empty-handed.

Sharati massaged her aching right leg.

‘I couldn’t buy it today, either.’

Today, the village was disturbed with soldiers around, complicating things.

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
