In her past life, she’d offered him dessert a few times after eating it alone, but he’d never once taken a bite.

Though it had been awkward having her desire to share something delicious with him rejected, she couldn’t force him—it was simply his preference.

That he’d brought her marshmallows every night now meant he did it entirely for her sake. She didn’t know why it had to be marshmallows of all things, though.

While Blair was asleep, regaining her strength, Herdin had been busy tracking down the mastermind behind her abduction and returned home late each night.

Whenever Blair, who’d fallen asleep early, briefly opened her eyes in the dead of night, he was always there beside her, sleeping quietly alongside the ever-burning fireplace.

But by the time she woke in the morning, he was already gone. It had been nearly a week since she’d properly seen Herdin.

“Is he waiting for me to get well?”

Of course, he wasn’t so heartless as to act on his desires while she was unwell—some of his actions surely stemmed from pity for her condition…

Yet it would be hard to claim his waiting held absolutely no trace of desire.

If that were true, then by falling asleep early every night, she’d been repeatedly leaving him frustrated.

Fortunately, she felt much better today.

Blair headed toward the drawer where she’d placed the geography book she’d borrowed earlier that day, intending to read while waiting for him. As she turned her head absentmindedly, the view from the balcony caught her eye.

Beyond the balcony’s floor-to-ceiling windows, something pure white fluttered gently in the air.

“…Snow?”
