His unfathomable eyes, now close enough to touch, seemed to scour every corner of her mind.
After a brief hesitation, Blair finally spoke.
“Sir Caligo.”
The moment Caligo’s name passed her lips, Herdin’s gaze turned icy.
He disliked hearing another man’s name—especially that one—spoken from the very lips he had just kissed, and at this precise moment, no less.
Yet Blair, seemingly oblivious to his reaction, asked,
“Is he one of the subordinates you trust?”
“He’s someone who’s rolled with me across the brink of life and death.”
Herdin replied curtly before swallowing her lips once more. Only then did she seem to grasp his unspoken wish not to continue the conversation, and quietly surrendered herself to him.
