“What should I do….”

The next day, this was the first thought that came to Blair’s mind upon regaining consciousness. Recalling the previous day’s events, she felt utterly lost about how to fix things.

It would have been better if nothing at all came back to her—but her memory, as if mocking her, remained in scattered fragments.

Meeting Wesley alone on the balcony while trying to sober up, Herdin appearing and striking Wesley.

And from the moment they slipped away from the balcony together, her memories became even more fragmented.

She couldn’t recall their exact conversation, but she clearly remembered that he had wanted her—remembered their kiss, their physical intimacy.

Then suddenly, he pulled away from her lips and stepped back—and after that, nothing. She had no recollection whatsoever of how she returned to the ducal residence.

But one thing seemed certain: she had made a disgraceful spectacle of herself in front of Herdin.

“I shouldn’t have drunk so much last night….”

Blair sighed deeply and lowered her head. Her reflection stared back at her from the clear water of the bath.

Though filled with regret, there was no undoing what had been done. This was something she simply had to face directly—so she might as well confront it head-on instead of avoiding it.

“I’ll look him in the eye and properly apologize.”

Blair had never possessed any talent for being cunning or shameless.

One lesson she’d learned throughout her life was that honesty and directness were always better than clumsy attempts at evasion.

Having made up her mind, Blair left the bathroom and headed down to the dining room. It was nearly noon, so Herdin had already finished his meal and was attending to official duties.
