Casually searching for Herdin, Blair suddenly became aware of her familiarity with his warmth.
Over the past few days, Herdin had never been far from her. He had abandoned his duties long ago and was present during meals, baths, and even when she fell asleep and woke up.
Herdin would overlap his body with hers, seeming like a ravenous beast, yet at times, he appeared desperate.
As if he would die if separated from her for even a moment.
However, witnessing the void in his absence, she recognized her flattened abdomen with caution.
‘Could it be that I’m pregnant?’
The emergence of Asiel occurred precisely on that rainy night, and for days afterward, they had relentlessly intertwined even more than now.
Whatever had stimulated his desire, she couldn’t be sure, but enduring this time with the determination to meet Asiel was a rather fortunate turn of events for Blair.
Even though it was difficult and made her tremble, the reason she hadn’t pushed him away lay there.
‘It’s probably time to start preparing for the divorce.’
If she had Asiel within a few days, she would likely start experiencing morning sickness around the first month. Reflecting on memories from her past life, when she had Asiel, the morning sickness was severe at the time. She couldn’t eat anything; in fact, even drinking water made her feel nauseous.
Initially, one could attribute it to indigestion, but anything beyond that would be challenging to hide from the observant Herdin. So, everything needed to be settled before that.
Divorce involves procedures, and it takes longer than one might think. Since she had expedited the originally planned contract termination by nearly six months, Herdin would need time to prepare as well.
As Blair contemplated organizing her thoughts, she heard the sound of the bedroom door opening.
Soon, Herdin, entering the bedroom with an air of formal politeness, lay on the bed and locked eyes with Blair, who was looking in his direction.
“You’re up early.”
Approaching the bed, he pulled the blanket.
Since he had only summoned the maids during meal times in the past few days, he likely expected her to notice and prepare breakfast on her own.
Seated by the bed, Herdin, while gently running his fingers through Blair’s disheveled hair on the bedsheet, slowly moved up and lightly brushed her cheek with his index finger.
Watching him intently, Blair, just as his index finger was about to touch her lips, opened her mouth.
“Do you have a busy day?”
At that moment, Herdin’s playful hand paused, and a cool glint appeared in his eyes.
Her words sounded as if she was trying to drive him away.
“Perhaps.”
Responding matter-of-factly, Herdin moved his slender fingers again, caressing Blair’s slightly parted lips on the bedsheet. As Blair drew back her lips, avoiding his touch, Herdin, who had been stooping down, swallowed her tempting lips with a slight inclination of his upper body.
As their lips lightly met and parted, and just as he was about to pull her thin waist closer to embrace her once again, Blair halted him.
“Herdin.”
Without answering, he raised his gaze, meeting her eyes.
Blair spoke the words she had thought of before he arrived.
“Let’s end our contract here.”
The pupils of Herdin, who was looking at her, paused.
“I’ve regained my memories and done everything I can to uncover the whole story of that incident.”
“…”
“So, at this point, it’s probably best for both of us to start preparing.”
In Blair’s characteristic calm tone, she spoke of the end of the contract. Herdin’s lips twisted upon realizing the source of the emotions at the bottom of his heart. At that moment, the conclusion that spilled from her lips, as if saying, “I can’t let you go even in this state, but you’re leaving me so easily,” seemed ironic.
As planned, as she had always hoped. Since the deal was over, she was leaving, just as she said.
He couldn’t help but laugh at his wife’s innocent eyes, firmly believing that he would naturally keep that promise.
Herdin looked down at Blair with cold eyes and spoke.
“The contract period still has quite some time left. I don’t understand why you’re in such a hurry.”
“…”
“Is there a reason you need to run away quickly after the divorce?”
A subtle wave passed through Blair’s violet eyes, which had harbored trust in him.
It was the eyes of someone betrayed, eyes that had found flaws.
That sight distorted his feelings even more.
How could he hold onto someone who had been waiting for the day to leave with another man, who was only thinking about leaving my side?
In his cold, calculating mind, there was only one thought.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
