Renev nodded, staring straight into Ikar’s face.

Ikar bit his lower lip.

It was unbearably endearing—and utterly charming—to see such a towering man, easily twice Renev’s size, flustered by just a single word from her.

Renev threw her arms around Ikar in a sudden embrace—though “embraced” wasn’t quite right; it was more like she’d clung to a massive ancient tree.

After holding each other tightly for a while, sharing warmth, they finally pulled apart—and Ikar’s face slowly tilted downward.

Gazing into Ikar’s crimson eyes brimming with longing, Renev closed her own.

Belkane’s young duke belatedly realized something and quickly turned toward the direction Renev had vanished.

Though the knights had inspected the nearby hunting grounds, venturing too deep was still dangerous.
