Asking why he’d come all the way here would have been pointless.

Lucius had business with Renev regardless of her wishes, and he clearly intended to be a nuisance until it was resolved.

“Please come inside.”

Taken aback by the unexpected visitor, Kieren asked after a brief pause,

“My Lady, shall I prepare tea?”

She hadn’t told Kieren anything about her relationship with Lucius.

“Tea isn’t necessary. You may leave.”

Lucius gave the order before Renev could even speak.

Kieren glanced at Renev’s face, silently asking if that was truly alright, and Renev gave a bitter smile and nodded.

Once Kieren and Amber bowed deeply and left, only Lucius and Renev remained in the drawing room.
