Renev was choosing a dress from among the designs prepared by the seamstress Ikar had sent, and waiting for her new dress to be finished.

“Kieran, was it today? The day the jeweler His Majesty promised to send was supposed to visit.”

Renev, about to leave her bedroom, paused briefly and looked at Kieran.

“Yes, my lady. They’re scheduled to arrive at 3 o’clock.”

Kieran spoke brightly. Renev nodded and stepped out of her bedroom.

As she walked down the long corridor toward the dining room, a voice came from behind her.

“Good morning, my lady.”

Turning her head, she saw Rachel approaching quickly.

“Good morning, Your Highness.”

Yet beneath Rachel’s eyes—usually so clear and bright—shadows had gathered.

“You look a bit tired. Are you all right?”

Renev asked with concern in her voice, prompting Rachel to let out a small sigh.

“I’m completely overwhelmed with preparations for the imperial ball. It seems the fabrics we commonly use in Laina aren’t imported here. Perhaps because the fabrics here are too thin, I can’t quite achieve the design I want…”

Since it was her first ball, she clearly wanted to present the finest dress possible, and her frustration at things not going as planned was evident.

“I’m sorry for talking only about myself. How is your own preparation coming along, my lady?”
