Veronica sought out the Baron Richter Family. As she waited in the drawing room, the door soon opened and the Baron Richter’s daughter entered.

The woman, with her chestnut hair neatly flowing down her back, looked somewhat pale. She appeared visibly nervous.

Veronica immediately rose from her seat and greeted her with a smile, deliberately using a bright and cheerful tone to convey her intention to break down any barriers between them.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Julia. Thank you for agreeing to see me.”

“I’m glad to meet you too, Lady Nia. I heard you became engaged to Duke Drea last week. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.”

After this brief exchange, a moment of silence passed between the two women seated opposite each other.

Julia cautiously observed Veronica’s expression. After all, someone she had no prior connection with had suddenly reached out requesting a meeting—it was only natural she’d be intensely curious about the reason.

Yet rather than asking directly, she seemed to choose simply to wait. Thus, Veronica spoke first.

“One of the noble ladies who came as part of the Hysric Kingdom’s delegation has become a victim of assault.”

Julia’s blue eyes flickered at Veronica’s abrupt statement. Her hands, which had been resting demurely on her lap, tightened around her skirt. Veronica watched Julia’s reaction closely, missing not a single detail.

After taking a brief, steadying breath, Julia finally spoke. Worry deeply shadowed her pale face.

“…I read about it in the newspaper too. I heard she’s staying at Duke Drea’s estate. How is she doing?”

“Her arm was broken, but she’s receiving proper care. The arm will heal soon enough, but a wounded heart… that pain can last a lifetime.”

“…Yes, I suppose so.”
