Jediel pressed his face against the window hard enough to flatten his nose, repeatedly exclaiming, “Wow! Amazing!”
Veronica took a veil from her handbag and hooked it over her ears. It was a lace-trimmed veil that covered her face from just below the eyes. Jediel tilted his head curiously and asked,
“Why are you covering your face?”
“It’s just… Jediel and Your Grace think my scar is pretty, but strangers might be startled when they see it for the first time. So for now, I’ll wear this veil. What do you think? Does it suit me well, Mommy?”
Though Jediel clearly disliked seeing Veronica hide her face, he still gave a big, vigorous nod.
