Tomorrow was the 49th memorial service for his wife.

Joo Hwan couldn’t let that day—the one that might be his last chance—slip away like this.

He had to attend somehow, explain everything to his son-in-law and daughter, and beg for their help. Ever since he’d been notified that his status had changed from witness to defendant, he’d been restless with anxiety.

“How can they do this to me! I’m still Eom Hye Yeon’s husband, yet they didn’t say a word to me and are planning her 49th memorial service all by themselves!”

Joo Hwan clenched his fist and gulped down another drink.

He’d spent every penny he earned on luxuries. He’d always been confident that Eun Soo would take care of his old age—yet he never imagined she’d turn her back on him like this.

“What kind of child abandons their own parents?”

Joo Hwan grumbled bitterly, his shoulders heaving with frustration.

He remembered how devoted she’d been to her mother, tirelessly caring for her while she lay sick in bed—but now, she wouldn’t even glance at her perfectly healthy father who walked on two feet just fine. The thought made his blood boil.
