Her lips curved into a lovely smile as she read the message that had arrived.

Seeing that, his insides boiled again. Frustrated, Hyuk Joo loosened his tie by tugging at the knot. He’d even unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, yet his chest still felt heavy, as if weighed down by something invisible.

Sensing Hyuk Joo’s gaze on her, Eun Soo looked up.

“Mr. Hyuk Joo?”

Her mouth fell open at the unmistakable change on his face—so unlike his usual self.

“Do you feel unwell?”

“Seems like it.”

“Is it really bad?”

She lifted the hand that had been touching his cheek and pressed it to his forehead.

It was hot. Hotter than just moments ago. Her eyes widened at the rising fever—but something about Hy’s eyes struck her as odd.

Though his body burned like someone struck by a brutal fever, his eyes were cold and heavy, like lumps of lead.

Puzzling over it, Eun Soo suddenly burst into laughter as a thought crossed her mind.

“Don’t tell me you’re acting like this because of what I said about my meeting earlier?”
