The Day I Quit Being a Wife (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Seo Yeon Ji was wearing a fluttering white dress with a yellow apron over it.
Her loosely half-tied hair scattered in the gentle breeze.
Eun Soo stared fixedly at her.
Recognizing her, Seo Yeon Ji hesitated for a moment before slowly opening her mouth.
“…You’re Oh Eun Soo, right?”
“Yes.”
Eun Soo nodded expressionlessly.
Seo Yeon Ji, still holding the door open, pointed inside.
“Would you like to come in?”
“I will.”
Eun Soo replied curtly. She didn’t want to reveal her emotions to Seo Yeon Ji.
She wanted to show that, just like her counterpart showed no agitation, she herself was completely unaffected.
As if meeting her held no significance at all, Eun Soo kept her face sternly composed.
Once inside the flower shop, Seo Yeon Ji followed and turned the sign hanging on the door to display “CLOSED” outward.
Without waiting for Seo Yeon Ji’s permission, Eun Soo sat down on the nearest chair.
The small round table was cluttered with cut stems and scattered flower branches. Looking down at the mess, Eun Soo’s brow furrowed slightly.
Even at a glance, it was clear Seo Yeon Ji had no skill with flowers.
She obviously couldn’t even execute the basic spiral technique required for bouquet-making—the stems should be held spiraling in one direction, yet the half-finished bouquet Seo Yeon Ji had made was loose and disorganized.
To Eun Soo’s eyes, Seo Yeon Ji was merely playing house with flowers inside Moon Hyuk Joo’s building.
At least, that’s exactly how it appeared to her.
“…I was in the middle of working.”
Noticing Eun Soo’s furrowed expression, Seo Yeon Ji looked embarrassed as she cleared away the flower stems.
After tidying the table, Seo Yeon Ji picked up two coffee capsules, apparently intending to brew coffee.
“I don’t need coffee.”
“…Then would you like some water instead?”
“It’s fine.”
Although Seo Yeon Ji had confidently initiated this meeting over the phone, for some reason she now seemed unusually cautious.
Almost as if she herself were the victim.
That attitude made Eun Soo’s blood boil.
She had entered this marriage fully aware of everything, yet seeing Seo Yeon Ji reappear like this stirred an indescribable fury within her.
She wanted to demand why Seo Yeon Ji had returned after taking money to leave. But Eun Soo clenched her fists tightly, struggling to hold back the storm inside.
She looked straight into Seo Yeon Ji’s face.
Pale skin, round eyes with double eyelids, plump lips, and a petite frame.
She’d said she was only two years younger than her husband, but Seo Yeon Ji’s small stature and round features made her look much younger.
Apparently unsettled by Eun Soo’s intense gaze, Seo Yeon Ji briefly lowered her eyes. Then, lifting her head again, she spoke slowly.
“I just wanted to meet you—to see who the woman living with Hyuk Joo oppa really is.”
“…The woman living with him.”
Eun Soo echoed Seo Yeon Ji’s words under her breath.
An involuntary, bitter laugh escaped her at the same time.
Taken aback by Eun Soo’s reaction, Seo Yeon Ji glanced furtively at her, watching her every move.
Her gaze held a determined, probing quality, as if she were waiting to see how Eun Soo would respond before deciding her next step. In response, Eun Soo maintained an even more indifferent expression.
“Have you ever heard Hyuk Joo oppa talk about me?”
“Does it matter?”
“What?”
Caught off guard by Eun Soo’s calm reply, Seo Yeon Ji’s voice wavered slightly as she repeated the question.
“Seo Yeon Ji.”
“…Yes?”
“You didn’t call me here just to look at my face, did you? Isn’t that right?”
Eun Soo asked, steadily holding Seo Yeon Ji’s gaze.
She had no response.
Trending
Either she had nothing to say, or she hadn’t expected Eun Soo to be so detached.
Perhaps Seo Yeon Ji had assumed that, as the woman receiving Moon Hyuk Joo’s love, she held the upper hand and could easily manage Eun Soo.
But she’d overlooked something crucial.
From the very beginning, Eun Soo had never once received Moon Hyuk Joo’s love—so she had no reason whatsoever to feel betrayed by her husband.
Yet…
Her fingertips went numb, as if all sensation had vanished.
Just think about Mother.
Eun Soo made that promise to herself.
To endure this situation, she reminded herself of the benefits her mother received solely because she was the daughter-in-law of Myungjin Group.
If her mother had been an ordinary patient, the medical staff might already have deemed her chances of recovery zero and urged them toward final choices. But because she was the mother-in-law of Moon Hyuk Joo, heir to Myungjin Group, the staff spoke of hope before despair.
It was all just theater—everyone knew miracles or hope wouldn’t actually happen, yet power forced them to play along.
Others might call such theater futile, but Eun Soo desperately needed even that.
“This marriage wasn’t made without knowing about your existence.”
“…”
“I knew everything from the start. I’ve also heard about the current relationship between my husband and you.”
“What did Hyuk Joo oppa say?”
“I didn’t ask. I don’t need to know every detail of your love story.”
“Oh…”
Seo Yeon Ji tilted her head slightly, then offered a faint smile.
Like Moon Hyuk Joo, she seemed relieved that Eun Soo appeared willing to accept their relationship.
“I asked to meet you because I have a request.”
“Go ahead.”
Eun Soo spoke in a calm, even tone.
Compared to earlier, Seo Yeon Ji’s expression had grown noticeably lighter. She let out a quiet breath before moving her small, plump lips.
“Just let me stay by Hyuk Joo oppa’s side as things are now. I don’t want anything more—just please allow that.”
“…Alright.”
As she gave that slow reply, Eun Soo rose from her seat.
She forced strength into her legs, refusing to collapse right there. She focused every nerve on her feet.
Step by step, she walked toward the flower shop’s door, biting her lip tightly—afraid even the slightest unevenness in her footsteps might betray her.
Jingle.
The door shut behind her with a soft chime.
Desperate to put as much distance as possible between herself and the shop, Eun Soo quickened her heavy steps.
Just walk.
Keep walking until she was far enough away.
After walking for a while, Eun Soo suddenly realized her hand felt empty.
“My medical records…”
The envelope containing her medical records, given to her by her father, was missing.
“Damn it.”
Of all things, she’d left it behind at the flower shop.
Her shoulders slumped in defeat. Pressing a hand to her forehead, she turned and retraced her steps.
As she neared the shop, she saw Seo Yeon Ji standing outside. The moment Seo Yeon Ji spotted her, she hurried over and handed her the envelope.
“You left this behind.”
“Thank you.”
Eun Soo took the envelope and gave a brief nod of thanks before turning away.
“Wait…”
At Seo Yeon Ji’s voice calling her back, Eun Soo turned her head.
“You used to go to Sung Shim Hospital, didn’t you?”
“Yes.”
“I saw it written on the envelope.”
Seo Yeon Ji pointed to the envelope in Eun Soo’s hand. She looked up at Eun Soo, her pupils flickering beneath her lashes.

Eun Soo was puzzled by Seo Yeon Ji’s serious expression.
Did she know Sung Shim Hospital?
Sung Shim Hospital was located in a small provincial town—unknown to anyone who hadn’t lived in that area.
“A friend of mine worked briefly there as a nurse.”
“…Oh?”
“Yes.”
“But Sung Shim Hospital closed down ten years ago.”
“…M-maybe it was a different hospital?”
Flustered, Seo Yeon Ji stammered.
Eun Soo gave her a cold look, then turned and walked away along the path she’d come.
Left alone, Seo Yeon Ji stared after Eun Soo’s retreating figure for a long while.
She anxiously chewed her fingernails, her eyes uneasy, until Eun Soo’s back disappeared completely from view.
“It can’t possibly be her…”
Worried, Seo Yeon Ji covered her forehead with her hand.
“It must just be a coincidence. There’s no way Oh Eun Soo is the girl Hyuk Joo oppa mentioned.”
She shook her head, trying hard to erase the uneasy thought taking shape in her mind.

Hyuk Joo rubbed his forehead with his fingers as he listened to the sharp reprimand coming through the phone.
—The branch manager said your wife intends to withdraw all the money—do you seriously know nothing about this?
He’d stepped out of a meeting after receiving a note saying Chairwoman Moon Young Ran had an urgent call.
He’d wondered if some problem had arisen at the company without his knowledge.
But his aunt was asking whether anything was wrong because Eun Soo had gone to the bank today to withdraw all their funds. It was a question he simply couldn’t answer.
—She hasn’t mentioned needing money for her family?
“No.”
—Could President Oh Joo Hwan have asked her for money?
“…I’ll check.”
Hyuk Joo replied in a subdued tone.
As if waiting for him to volunteer that he’d look into it, his aunt’s sharp tone softened immediately.
Murmuring something about having stepped out during a meeting, Hyuk Joo quickly ended the call.
He ran a tired hand through his hair.
Oh Joo Hwan, Eun Soo’s father, was far from upright—
in both his personal life and business affairs.
This marriage hadn’t been entered into blindly.
Among several matchmaking prospects, he’d met Eun Soo first specifically because of President Oh Joo Hwan.
He’d assumed the daughter would inherit her father’s flaws—greedy and full of weaknesses.
Someone who wouldn’t trouble him, even in a loveless marriage.
But Eun Soo turned out to be fundamentally different from her father.
That had secretly startled him.
Oh Eun Soo was far too pure to be his wife.
Even now, Hyuk Joo couldn’t clearly understand why he’d chosen her—when he could have simply refused the marriage.
He’d just wanted to say yes.
When Eun Soo said she needed to marry him, he’d simply wanted to agree.
“Deputy Director.”
Seeing Hyuk Joo take too long, Director Song stepped out of the meeting room.
“Check where Eun Soo is right now.”
Hyuk Joo loosened his tie knot with a quiet voice.

“Madam, I’ll be leaving now.”
Eun Soo, who had been diligently massaging her mother’s legs, looked up at Madam Sang Joo’s farewell.
Normally, Madam Sang Joo cared for her mother from early morning until late evening, but today she had an important appointment and asked to leave a bit early.

So Eun Soo had to stay at her mother’s bedside until the night nurse arrived.
“Be careful on your way.”
“Yes, Madam.”
Madam Sang Joo bowed slightly and was about to leave the room when she suddenly stepped toward Eun Soo.
“Madam.”
“Yes?”
Lowering her voice as if about to reveal a huge secret, Madam Sang Joo whispered,
“Dr. Kim mentioned another doctor would be coming for a month—something about a conference, I think.”
“Yes.”
“The replacement doctor came by earlier to introduce himself—he’s young and handsome. He said he’d definitely come greet you later, so take a look when he shows up.”
Madam Sang Joo covered her mouth and smiled conspiratorially.
“I will. I’ll see just how handsome he is.”
“He’s not as handsome as the Deputy Director, of course.”
“But aren’t you supposed to be leaving now?”
“Oh dear!”
Madam Sang Joo checked the time on her phone and, with her usual flurry of movements, hurried toward the door.
“Oh my!”
Startled by Madam Sang Joo’s exclamation, Eun Soo turned her head.
“Has the Deputy Director arrived?”
“Yes.”
Seeing Hyuk Joo suddenly appear, Eun Soo rose from her seat in surprise.
With a quick bow and a mumbled excuse about needing to leave, Madam Sang Joo departed.
Eun Soo looked at Hyuk Joo entering the room with a bewildered expression.
“What brings you here?”
“Am I not allowed?”
“It’s not that…”
Before Eun Soo could finish her hesitant sentence, someone knocked on the door.
The door soon opened, and a doctor in a white coat entered.
“Hello.”
“Yes, hello.”
Eun Soo bowed her head toward the doctor who greeted her first. When she looked up, she was momentarily startled.
It was the man who’d found her phone.
“You’re the guardian of patient Eom Hye Yeon?”
“Yes.”
Eun Soo nodded in answer to the doctor’s question.
Glancing sideways, she saw Hyuk Joo’s profile—stiff and guarded.
He regarded the doctor’s overly friendly smile with clear suspicion.
“I’m Hwang In Woo. Starting today, I’ll be taking over patient Eom Hye Yeon’s care for one month in place of Professor Kim Won Jin.”
“Hwang In Woo…?”
Hearing the doctor’s name, Eun Soo tilted her head in confusion.
It was a familiar name.
She slowly studied the doctor standing before her. Noticing her scrutinizing gaze, the doctor smiled and asked,
“Guardian, do you remember who I am?”

…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
