It was a lie that she thought would never be exposed forever. So, while deceiving Hyuk-joo, Yeon-ji felt no guilt whatsoever.
As time passed, she became more confident.
She was convinced that if she brought up stories related to his mother to Hyuk-joo, he would believe anything. Today was no exception.
“My biggest mistake was toying with you.”
“Oh, Oppa…”
“I’ve thought about how to repay for all the mischief I’ve done against me. I’ve decided to just let it go.”
Hearing Hyuk-joo say he wouldn’t do anything, Yeon-ji thought it was somewhat fortunate. She was worried about asking him to return everything she had received so far. However, with his following words, she felt a lump in her throat.
“I don’t have to do anything; it’ll collapse on its own soon.”
Yeon-ji, hearing the story of self-destruction, furrowed her eyebrows.
Hyuk-joo twisted his lips into a smile.

“I didn’t only lie to myself.”
“…”
“I don’t have to take action because it seems like it will collapse on its own.”
With a chilling gaze, Hyuk-joo made it clear that he already understood that her life was adorned with lies. He said that, even without dirtying his hands, she was on the verge of collapsing soon.
In a desperate situation, Yeon-ji bit her lower lip and stood up. Although her lies were exposed, she didn’t want to retreat obediently.
Yeon-ji shouted defiantly.
“Regardless of what Masamseop said, the child you were looking for, it’s me!”
Despite Hyuk-joo looking at her with a disdainful gaze, Yeon-ji didn’t care.
“I didn’t know the old lady’s face when I was young, so the memories are vague. And she said she wore a headscarf, but the lady I met wore this hat. Don’t you think Oppa might have been mistaken?”
“It’s a mess to the end.”

At the heavy sigh, Yeon-ji gave him a resentful look.
Anyway, it was damage control. Even though Hyuk-joo had figured out all his lies, the mother who could prove them didn’t exist in this world.
So, all she had to do was insist that she never lied until the end.
“Even if you say sorry later, I won’t accept it.”
After glaring at Hyuk-joo with her fist clenched, Yeon-ji left the study.
Riding the elevator and descending to the lobby on the first floor, she quickly left the resort. She walked aimlessly.
Entering a cafe with a clear view of the sea, Yeon-ji breathed heavily as she caught her breath.
“Ugh, what should I do?”
Although she had held on until the end, denying it as not true in front of Hyuk-joo, she instinctively realized.
Now, Hyuk-joo would never come looking for her.

Restlessly, Yeon-ji bit her nails one after another.
She didn’t expect to be forgiven immediately for her mistakes.
If a person had that much conscience, they wouldn’t have come this far by adding lies to lies.
After discovering that the child he was looking for was Eun-su, Hyuk-joo felt anger toward himself.
It was regrettable for the time wasted on the feeble lies that deceived him.
Like a fool.
“Sigh…”
Hyuk-joo opened the window.
He deeply breathed in the refreshing air that entered through the open window.
He had pondered how to take revenge on Seo Yeon-ji, who had deceived him. Even if he used some method to take revenge, it seemed unlikely to satisfy him.
Then he realized.

Anyway, Seo Yeon-ji was living a life built on lies now. It was certain that it would collapse soon without him doing anything.
There was a way to expose the past that should not be revealed to the public or cast doubt on false education. However, Hyuk-joo decided not to do that.
Seo Yeon-ji was nothing more than a crumbling castle.
Already, various comments raising suspicions about her account were steadily coming up. Of course, those comments were deleted before long.
But that was like covering the sky with one’s palm.
“I don’t need to dirty my hands unnecessarily.”
Hyuk-joo stared at the sky-blue woolen hat for a moment and then threw it into the trash.
Walking to the desk, he gathered the materials he hadn’t thoroughly reviewed and left the study.
He spent more time than he thought dealing with Seo Yeon-ji.
If he wanted to take Eun-su, he had to move now.

“Are you taking it to your wife’s house?”
Seeing Hyuk-joo holding quite a stack of documents, Hyeon-su asked with surprised eyes.
In the past, it was common for Hyuk-joo to take the remaining work documents home.
However, after moving to Jeju Island, he never took work to his home. So, Hyeon-su was a bit puzzled by the current situation.
“It’s materials for tomorrow’s meeting.”
Hyuk-joo explained with an unavoidable tone.
“That’s true, but a few days ago, you said you didn’t want to take work home anymore.”
“Although I want to avoid it, we decided to go to the hospital with Eun-su.”
“Ah, today was the day for the hospital check-up.”
“I’ll go first, so finish up and leave quickly.”

“Yes.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Hyuk-joo walked towards the elevator.
Suddenly, he recalled Eun-su’s hopeful eyes this morning.
“I might find out the baby’s gender today.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
