Countess Hetel’s desperate eyes fixed on me.
“Duchess Blanchet, it’s not good for your health to go out when the rain is pouring like this. How about staying at the Hetel Count’s residence until the rain stops?”
“That’s right! The Hetel Count’s residence has various interesting sights. How about stopping by for a short visit?”
Even Count Hetel began to plead with me. Turning my eyes, I saw Johan, who merely nodded arrogantly.
‘He must mean to do as I please?’
I now scrutinized Countess Hetel’s changed attitude.
‘The most effective way at times like this is…….’
Since my time in Libertan, I knew how to make others feel most tired and annoyed.
‘But if I mess up, my bad reputation in social circles could spread.’
Unfortunately, I had no reputation left to fall. So, it was better to make sure that they couldn’t treat me casually.
“The Duke has nothing to apologize for. It’s not something that happened because of the Duke’s fault.”
I answered naively with a smile.
“If the Duke wishes, I’m good to go elsewhere right away.”
When I too revealed my willingness to leave, the complexion of Count Hetel gradually turned pale. But he couldn’t rudely interrupt the conversation between Johan and me.
“Shall we look for another place, then?”
“But…….”
I looked up at the falling rain.
“Since it’s raining like this, it might be okay to stay at the Hetel Count’s residence for the sake of our companions.”
With each of my words, the expressions of Count Hetel and the people changed.
“What is there to worry about? Just do as the lady wishes.”
“Then…….”
Count Hetel and his people all gulped in unison. I asked Countess Hetel,
“Countess Hetel, would it be okay to burden the Hetel Count’s residence with a onenight stay from the Blanchet Duke’s residence?”
“Of course! If you stay from the Blanchet Duke’s residence, it would be a great honor to the Hetel Count’s residence.”
“I must have misunderstood then.”
“Wh, what misunderstanding?”
“I thought Countess Hetel was uncomfortable with me.”
Countess Hetel’s smile twisted. Unable to hide her confusion, she awkwardly replied,
“Uncomfortable with you! Why would I feel uncomfortable with the Duchess?”
“That’s what I thought, right? You didn’t greet me earlier, so I misunderstood on my own.”
At my jesting words, Countess Hetel started to make amends.
“It must be the toxins building up. Sometimes, when I’m tired, I make unnecessary misunderstandings.”
“You must have been so tired, especially with the heavy rain. Please go inside and rest comfortably.”
The atmosphere slowly warmed up.
Until I asked again in an innocent voice.
“What a relief. Having left me, the wife, in the front, and having the adult son guide my husband to the room, all without even greeting me, I misunderstood. Especially since you separately mentioned it was the gentleman’s room.”
“…….”
“Something that couldn’t happen in the capital.”
Countess Hetel clenched her dress. Count Hetel couldn’t intervene, and the mentioned count’s daughters looked increasingly unwell.
A lengthy silence followed.
At the end of the silence, Count Hetel nudged the countess’s side. Swallowing hard, Countess Hetel apologized, her lips trembling.
“I’m sorry. It’s been a long time since I hosted guests, so I must have unknowingly broken etiquette. I’m so lacking…….”
“It’s okay. It’s a misunderstanding, after all.”
Just then, a man walked out from within the Hetel Count’s residence.
“What’s going on?”
A tall man with dark blue hair and purple eyes. His eyes were elongated, reminiscent of a snake.
‘He feels a bit scary.’
A man I saw for the first time.
The faces of Count and Countess Hetel turned ashen.
“Chancellor Ortega! You were resting inside…….”
Chancellor Ortega.
I had heard of him in Libertan. He was the head of the Ortega Viscount family, and one of the entities that wielded control over the empire.
‘So, that’s what he’s like.’
But why the chancellor was staying at this Hetel castle was very questionable.
Orteka Chief Justice lightly tapped the floor with the cane he was holding and replied,
“Suddenly, I heard a commotion outside and came to see. Now I see the Duke and Duchess of Blanquette are here. Was there any trouble?”
“It was nothing. There was a brief misunderstanding, but it’s all cleared up. Isn’t that right, Duchess of Blanquette?”
Countess Hetel asked me with a gracious smile.
“Yes. It’s all resolved.”
So I, too, answered with a smile. Countess Hetel nodded awkwardly.
Orteka Chief Justice’s eyes narrowed.
“I’m glad it’s resolved. Though I’m not sure if it’s truly settled.”
Orteka Chief Justice twisted his lips into a smile and returned to the mansion. One of Count Hetel’s daughters hurriedly followed the Chief Justice.
I’m not sure why the Chief Justice was at Count Hetel’s, or what exactly was going on.
Apparently, Count Hetel’s had not only courted the Duke of Blanquette but also the Chief Justice.
But judging by the Chief Justice’s reaction now.
‘It’ll be difficult to court either side.’

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
