I knew it. Viscount Fisher’s words were in no way exaggerated.

They had tried to quietly resolve Margaret’s issue to avoid my detection and had been trailing Viscount Fisher, who recklessly filed an unnecessary lawsuit.

Had Meriel not died—and had I not resolved to take revenge against them—Viscount Fisher would have ultimately died at Bake’s hands.

Yet, it was hard to simply nod in agreement, perhaps because we resembled each other in certain ways.

Again and again, I tried to speak but only moved my lips until I finally managed to utter something.

“It’ll be dangerous.”

Yet, even after saying those words, I had to stay silent for a moment. I didn’t want to say it.

I knew better than anyone that Viscount Fisher was willing to risk danger, even without me saying a word.

For him, merely being alive was hell.

Every waking moment, he suffered looking at his burn scars, remembered the dead, and ultimately had to resent the wife he once loved.

The day he first fell for Margaret, the day he proposed to her, the day they first entered the castle together—all of it must have become painful memories for him.
