Late at night.
Seo Woo, who got off the bus, walked towards home.
She got a call from the café owner, where she worked parttime on weekends, just as she was about to leave work. There was a request for help, saying that one of the closing staff couldn’t come.
Seo Woo readily agreed since she had finished the document translation she had taken on a while ago. She usually accepted such requests because her parttime income increased by working in the evening hours.
The café owner showed gratitude but also regret when she saw Seo Woo, who had come straight after work.
“Anyway, you’re too kind. At your age, you should be dating, but here you are, ready to help whenever you’re called.”
“Where is the sister who begged me to come?”
“I’m just saying, thank you so much, really. There’s no one else but you.”
Having finished her office work and then working parttime in the evening.
Her feet were swollen without fail, but her mind was light.
‘I guess I can breathe a sigh of relief after this month.’
Looking at the bright moon in the night sky, Seo Woo smiled. She was already excited because this was the month she would finish paying off her student loans.
She no longer had to work three jobs and could get by on her monthly salary and freelance translation parttime work. That’s why Seo Woo decided to quit her weekend café parttime job soon.

Although it was called three jobs, there were tough days when she had to work not three times but thirty times harder. She could only harbor a onesided love, unable to entertain the luxury of thoughts of dating or marriage.
What she met after escaping from the long, long tunnel was a bright and shining light…..
The owner has gone crazy!
Suddenly, what came into view was a banner with strong letters.
Seo Woo was taken aback by the sudden visual stimulation as she walked home and turned the corner.
The store, which never got old even if she saw it every day, had a huge banner hanging on it. The yellow banner, with the words “The owner has gone crazy” written in bold red calligraphy, seemed to announce the identity of the store.
It was a fruit store located on the first floor of a small commercial building at the entrance of the old apartment where Seo Woo lived.
It was a wellknown place as a home where “the owner was crazy” and generously gave out.
Although the prices were much cheaper than the supermarket or market, everyone knew that the owner wasn’t really crazy.
Looking at the fresh state of the agricultural products, it was clear they weren’t being sold at a low price because of damage; it was due to minimizing distribution processes. Just a marketing tactic, no doubt.

Looking at the bright light emanating from inside the store, Seo Woo guessed the store owner must be someone who enjoys intense stimulation.
This addictive store that she came across on her late trip home from work.
Seo Woo found herself unable to just pass by, and before she knew it, she was in front of the store.
“Hello, I’ll take just one basket of these tangerines, please.”
Mr. Kim came out from inside. He wasn’t the owner, but an employee.
“You’re quite late today.”
Mr. Kim, with a light smile on his face, addressed her.
Mr. Kim, with his clean skin and silverframed glasses, was an intellectuallooking middleaged man.
His polite speech and inherent dignity did not match the local store, creating a unique atmosphere.
“Yeah, I had to fill in for someone at the cafe. They suddenly contacted me.”
“It must be tough, working all day at the office and then doing a parttime job.”
“You must be tired too. I thought you only stayed open late on the weekends, but you’re closing late today too.”
Keeping the store open until this hour could be considered a waste of electricity and energy. There would be less traffic around dinner time, so it would have been reasonable to close earlier.
Well, personally, she was grateful because it meant she could walk through a bright alley. Most of the shops in the small shopping district closed early, and the streetlights at the entrance of the apartment complex weren’t that bright.
“You always seem kind, every time I see you.”
“Thank you for your kind words.”
Seo Woo, in turn, smiled and greeted Mr. Kim, not displeased with his compliment.

“You’ll receive everything back. A good day will surely come.”
A heavy statement, seemingly filled with sincerity.
Seo Woo, who received such unexpected praise, felt surprisingly reassured.
“But instead of tangerines today, how about taking these Cheonhyehyang oranges?”
Mr. Kim pointed at the round fruits piled up in another basket.
Whether the store owner was really crazy or not, the hastily written note stated an absurd price.
Three thousand won for a basket? Cheonhyehyang oranges cheaper than tangerines? They’re usually much more expensive.
“Um, did you perhaps write the number wrong? It’s really cheap.”
“Just think of it as a clearance sale since we won’t be able to sell them tomorrow.”
“But they look too good to be unsellable…”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
